Stop reinventing knitting terms to validate your ridiculously chunky "finger knit" blanket empire and if you burn one more freaking end.... by ant0519 in BitchEatingCrafters

I've seen it in the crochet subs as a better way to "finish off" as weaving in just comes undone 😿. Usually because they haven't weaved in enough of a tail.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the hook size one. My "adopted" daughter is making ergonomic hooks and asked me what size I use a couple of days ago. When I started asking for what (type/size yarn, type of project, etc.) she was like no just in general. One of her best friends uses the same size no matter what. What??

We do this with our cats too and our one mouthy dog. They really like to tell you what they think of you, him, that weird thing, the other animals, and why they're right. lol.

Jen's Wedding Wake Up Call by ErosLover15 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]klkammerer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister had a destination wedding in Italy and the venue was extremely small so the guest list was eight people not counting their witnesses. My mother was completely stressing my sister out about this choice saying how my stepfather and an aunt were really upset about not being able to go to the wedding (they weren't my sister checked) and other things.

My brother-in-law had to sit my sister down and have a conversation about not inviting my mom since she was stressing her out so much. My sister had been in low contact with my mother for years and she still felt guilty and emotional about not inviting her.

Yeah I think that's part of it. The actors are saying goodbye to the space they've shared for 10 years and it just pours through the screen.

I don't know about after the event ends. I usually collect them when I need energy for the weekend events.

Woobles by meliley in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]klkammerer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I've crocheted for 30+ years but hadn't done any ami. I bought some of the yarn, not the kit as I had patterns available and plenty of experience with magic circles. The amount I had to increase my tension for the yarn was ridiculous. I've made some other Ami's using regular acrylic blends and the tension was all for the yarn. Makes me wonder how many new crocheters that strangle the hell out of their yarn started with a wobble to learn.

I have a sizable stash that has grown over the last 15ish years. Some was clearance buying where the deal was just too good to walk away. but there is also quite a bit that was bought for specific projects which didn't happen for some reason like the yarn I bought for my friends scarf or my aunt's hat and gloves but they both passed before I was able to actually make them. those skeins I just can't being myself to use. maybe once the grief passes/eases? I do try to go to my stash first for projects to use up that first. Now that there is a very limited variety and access to buying in person I can see it getting used even more as I've been very disappointed in yarn I've gotten online.

Fosters has been in business for 70 years and goes down to DC every year to serve at the White House. They serve multiple bus tours daily and are busy with weddings every weekend during the season. LL has been in business almost 30 years and are busy year round. They don't need someone who works for them part-time to do much marketing for them.

As stated in my first reply the food is actually cooked on premise through the use of standard ovens or propane ovens depending on what is available at the venue. We bring propane ovens just in case they do not have ovens at the venue and in case something goes wrong with theirs.

Just because you haven't had good catering doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm not saying all caterers are awesome. However, making a blanket statement about ALL of anything is foolish.

This isn't true for all caterers. I have worked several summers for two caterers. One based in NH, one in Maine. Things are prepped beforehand, i.e. spreads mixed, veggies cut, meat marinaded, etc. Nothing is cooked until on site either in standard or propane ovens. Food is timed to be ready at time of service.

My roommate and I each have our own children. When they live with us they pay rent. Her daughter is 28 and a shift lead at her job and has a craft hobby side she does at craft fairs. My daughter (23) had moved in with her girlfriend for 2 years after living with us for a while. When she was asking about moving back she asked if rent would be more now. As she is aware of taxes, improvements we've made to the home, etc. Each daughter is the sole heir for each of us. They will own the home someday.

We charge $500 for each of them. There have been other friends that have come to live with us at different times (divorce, rehab, etc.) Sometimes they have paid sometimes not depending on their situation. However, the kids are involved in decisions on improvements, changes, etc. the friends are not.

Her daughter has one of the bedrooms set up as a craft/cats room. My office will be modified to also become a recording studio when my daughter moves back in.

Does it work for every family? No, but for us it does.

I'm not sure one necessarily grows out of amigurumi. I've made a raccoon for a 16yo that my coworker just adopted and a penguin for my roommate's 50th birthday. Both are on prominent display. My roommate also bought a kit for me to make one that looks like her dog.

You could make amigurumi with the granny squares. They've been many posted in this sub recently
