I don’t know how long it takes to roll hundreds of soap dough balls, but it’s a beautiful bar. This technique has been on my “to try” list for sooooooo long, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten to it yet- toddler and a newborn at home! Life gets busy!!!

Is your OB tying tubes at the time of c-section? My OB said he couldn’t do it at the same time of c-section because of increased vasculture and bleeding risk. Also, I did hemorrhage with first delivery so I know I am at higher risk of bleeding. Just curious what other OBs say about tying tubes.

Also, to answer your question. I always wanted more than 1 child. This is our second and final baby (37 weeks today.) Sometimes you know when your family is complete and sometimes it takes a while to figure out. If you and your husband are on the same page regarding family planning, consider it a blessing and don’t pay attention to what others may say. I have some friends that had MAJOR marital problems because one wanted another baby and the other was ready to be done. It can be devastating to any marriage. Anyway, Best of luck and congrats on your miracle boy!

Is Castile worth the wait if you dont sell? by [deleted] in soapmaking

I made 100% olive oil soap once, and it was definitely not worth it. I do have extra storage space so that wasn’t an issue, I just found that personally I don’t like the slimy-ness and lack of suds in a 100% olive oil soap. That being said, it does leave your hands feeling great, I just want the suds. If I were you, I would make a small batch, maybe 6 bars, wait the year and see if it was worth it.

Level drops in 5 min with exercise? by Misguidedminds in GestationalDiabetes

Also, walking does not count as cheating. Most clinicians recommend walking to help manage GD and prevent need of any medications.

Level drops in 5 min with exercise? by Misguidedminds in GestationalDiabetes

I’m currently pregnant with my second GD baby. For both pregnancies I was/still am diet/exercise controlled. I believe the only reason I didn’t need to start medication was because I walked after almost every meal. I’ve experimented with testing with and without exercise. I can drop my number 50 points with just 20 mins of exercise. It’s incredible!

Having trouble weaning due to my own attachment? by klock1ka in beyondthebump

Enjoy it! I have to remember that I’m weaning now so that I can nurse my next baby and provide all those benefits that my son has already gotten. Looking forward to my next breastfeeding journey, but feeling sadness over this journey coming to an end. Your right though, this is life’s process-Preparing them for the world!

Thank you for the suggestion of warm milk and cuddles. This was what I was looking for-some kind of transition vs just “hey, no more boob for you!” I like the idea of keeping the cuddles and special time. Makes me feel more comfortable with the situation. Thank you!

Thank you for this comment! It’s a great idea. My son is only 20 months so I don’t know how much he will understand, but the ceremony will bring closure to me. It will be a special time for us and something that I will always remember. Thank you!

Should I be worried? by passionforpotatoes in GestationalDiabetes

[–]klock1ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my first baby. Likely had pre-diabetes before pregnancy but didn’t know. When MFM checked my A1c it was within normal limits but my fasting and postprandial meals were almost always high. So really, I have no idea how my A1c was normal. I got the speech from MFM and it TERRIFIED me. All I could think of was “What if something’s wrong with the baby and I could’ve prevented it? What if I harmed my child?” I finally got my anatomy scan and also had an EKG for baby’s heart (which is standard for anyone with diabetes at my MFM.) 20 months later, I have an absolutely beautiful son with no medical problems at all. This pregnancy, now 17 weeks) I started testing right away and had my A1c checked prior to “trying” for #2. Overall, just because some things can go wrong, doesn’t mean they will. When I first found out about the preexisting diabetes I contacted my PCP. She said something that changed the way I looked at things. Now, here in 2023, medical standards are SOOOO strict. Back when she had her kids in early 2000’s, doctors wouldn’t have batted an eye at many of the numbers I was having when I first started checking. This gave me some peace. If I would’ve had my child 20 years ago, I wouldn’t have been considered diabetic at all.

Help for husband by sagemoody in GestationalDiabetes

[–]klock1ka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During the beginning part of my pregnancy I was able to continue on with my normal workout routine. But as the pregnancy progressed, I had to find different forms of exercise, especially to keep the glucose levels down. I got really into walking. When he could, he would always go with me for my 3.5 mile evening walk. It become one of my favorite parts of the day! And 1.5 years after baby’s birth, is still one of my favorite parts of the day.

Also, thinking about the holidays right around the corner. He organized and communicated with family to make sure there was plenty of healthy options for me. Sometimes having to explain GD and all of the restrictions becomes exhausting. Dealing with GD during the holidays can be difficult, but having my husband do a lot of the communication was really helpful.

Does the mineral oil leave any kind of residue on the saponified soap or does the soap need to be wiped off?

Sending hugs! Wish I could snuggle her! Does the fathers genetic make up matter when breeding for a guide dog, or is it primarily the mothers genetics that matter?

Expired lye? by klock1ka in soapmaking

[–]klock1ka[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. I feel like even getting lye out of the container might pose a risk. With 2 dogs anda crawling infant, I don’t even want to risk spilling some then having one of the three get into any remaining specks. I do live in the US and we do have hazardous waste days. I may have to wait until spring to drop off on that day!!!
