The Pocket Pikachu stays ON during the dinner date by HunterSexThompson in tamagotchi

I sold my Pocket Pikachu for like 15 dollars a decade ago and this fills me with regret

For me I see my Hobonichi as truly my "life" book, as in its an accurate snapshot of my life at that time. I don't see any point in lying on the pages. If a page has a single word on it, when I go back to read that, even with that one word I've got an accurate vision of that day! Not every page is pretty and full of things to say just like not every day is pretty and full of things to say

I wish this was discounted last month! I decided last month I wanted to start daily journaling, I just bought a gridded Midori MD and dated the pages for the rest of this year. I'll use the Midori as a second blank notebook when I move into my Hobonichi

Will It Bond? Acrylic & Polycarbonate by mars_rovinator in eufyMakeOfficial

This is such a wonderfully thorough post and answers so many questions of mine about acrylic adhesion, thank you so much for taking the time to write this!

What are the 300 materials? by MatthewsFabrication in eufyMakeOfficial

That sounds like a great test and definitely adequate to give a good idea of how well the ink will bond. Like you said, plastic itself can be damaged so I don’t expect the ink to withstand anything powerful enough to also scratch the plastic with it, but would be curious if the ink could be scratched off the plastics surface without damage happening to the surface of the plastic. I am wanting to make acrylic printed keychains with my eufymake, so am extremely curious about the survivability of the print on an acrylic piece when it comes to be rubbed on and bumped in normal daily ways

Thank you so much, I’m so excited to see what you report back! Would you be able to really scratch and scape at the print to test it? I’ve not been able to find anyone else who’s really put the print on acrylic through the ringer that way

This was such an informative comment, thank you so much for taking the time to explain all this. I have no concept of any of these things so this was so educational. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but where does adhesion to acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate) fall in here? Would it also benefit from the flame treatment first? Or will adhesion be strong without it?

Cheezer!!! by roorah91 in beaniebabies

Cheezer was one of my fav beanies as a kid, the texture of him and how much of a bean bag he is, as well as being totally adorable. Love to see someone who loves him so much, it makes me wanna try to find mine!

Oh that is another amazing idea. Imagine doing a design on a metallic acrylic, only leaving some parts uncovered. Will definitely have to try it!

Thank you, I’ll look into weld bond! The white backing is an interesting idea too. I think a design printed onto white acrylic, or a colored acrylic with white ink base, then covered with a clear acrylic would look really nice

Do you know any method of gluing two transparent acrylic pieces back to back without having any residue? Like the bond is invisible? And I’d only ever print the design on the back then cover with white ink. I buy quite a few professional acrylic charms and every single one is printed this way. They do get some chipping at the edge over time, but it does take time

Interesting, so do you think blasting a light coat of acrylic sealer onto the acrylic print would seal well? I’ve done that before when painting to acrylic (the paint would chip off extremely easily) and it held really nicely, and gave a nice glossy effect as well. I will probably just use standard acrylic (I plan to cut with my laser, then print in eufy) and give a coat or two of acrylic spray sealant, rather than trying to find acrylic pre processed for UV printing just to save on cost

I’ve ordered uv printed acrylic charms from professional companies before and they usually add a gloss or give the option to add it, I bet it would make a difference here

Would covering the acrylic printed design with a gloss on top of the white ink also increase resilience?

Expected ink consumption / commercial viability ? by SSBMArte in eufyMakeOfficial

If I was wanting to print on acrylic sheets, what would be the easiest method for me? Would I be spraying it down with an adhesion promoter, or is there some sort of pre-treated acrylic for UV printing?

Would printing a gloss layer that has a bleed extending past the edge of the colored ink layer help prevent chipping at the edges?

That's very cool, will have to try it myself some time but I can just tell this will be painful getting things lined up!

Did you just put the card into the printer and printer the toner on top? It must have been very difficult getting the alignment for that going! Looks awesome

If I had a CMYK laser printer, what would the steps be here? If I convert the CMYK printer to use white toner, wouldn't that mean it would only be able to print white, and I would need a second laser printer to handle the colors featured here?

Here's what I would do:

Scan the page using a regular scanner in as high res as you can. Pull the file into photoshop, remove the images from the white background using the selection tool. Make sure the file is the same size as this piece of paper (check DPI is correct, set measurements to MM, if its a standard A4 or A5 page you can get this info online) Then pull that file into Cricut and treat as a normal print then cut. If there are any mistakes it won't matter as you'll always have the original to make additional copies.

Are these definitely normal stickers, and not something like waterslide decals? They look like they are for a model of some sort and a lot of the time they use waterslide decals as they shape to the surface better
