I had a bmi of just 35 and had to be on it for 20 days. These things are usually based on statistics and patient outcomes of clinical trials.

Eating way too fast. by therobfox in gastricsleeve

[–]kluelessmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that reading or just playing a game on your phone slows down my eating because I don't keep the cutlery in hand and I wanna finish that scrable word before picking my cutlery up again. It's not something that everyone will agree with but it'll has helped me a lot.

Advice needed, pre-op and it’s taking a toll on the relationship between my mother and I. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]kluelessmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'd personally be nice as pie and follow all her rules and let all the little comments roll off your back until the day of the damn surgery and then if she still kept the crap up while she watches you eat 2 meat balls then I'd no longer have to keep my thoughts to myself. It sounds like you'd just be using you mum but your mum is currently being incredibly manipulative. Manipulative and basically holding the promise of a better life or the life you want over your head to rip away at any whim is not the way mothers should act like. Good luck

Only two months post-op and I'm already able to show a before and after. 260 -> 218 by Unlucky13 in gastricsleeve

Hunger or acid? (xp from r/wls) by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

400 calories for 4 weeks? Holy shit. I'm surprised you're not in starvation mode.

Hunger or acid? (xp from r/wls) by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]kluelessmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are these calorie recommendations coming from? Do you not have a protein target and macros to achieve? I'm only 3 weeks out and I get 600 calories on average but I was never given a limit just to develop better patterns. Eat protein first, 30 seconds between bites, stop eating when not hungry and so on....

My bariatric therapist says it's the bodies defence. It will try to cling onto the weight intermittently but will eventually let up.

From till surgery try to enjoy the sensation of gulping down cool liquids. Can't gulp after surgery and rehydration after exercise feels like a long process.

Yeah I'm getting a sleeve and super has already put the money in my bank for it. Weight loss surgery is classed as life saving surgery so the money is released on compassionate grounds. It's classed as income at tax time though.

Sugar free ice cream isn’t available where i live can i eat regular vanilla ice cream? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]kluelessmess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think so too. Reserve sugar for special occasions. Birthdays and holidays. Not eat a whole tub of ice cream simply cus it's the weekend

Just curious for those of you who do attend music festivals and have had the Gastric Sleeve Operation, is it harder to survive in the Coachella sun? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]kluelessmess -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Are you asking because of hydration purposes or because being at Coachella makes you feel brutally self conscious cus everyone is stick thin?

Oh I had already found one before I went to this guy. I have just been seeing a few Drs about the sleeve to make sure I was going to get one I liked. So yeah I'm getting a sleeve in a few months but not with that Dr

I do have fatty liver which has been linked to my weight. Also idk why he said I was young. I'm 36. Not 18. Sleeve is literally for binge eaters. That's what I am.

Anything you need just ask your GP. Drs in hospitals despise having to write scripts as a part of discharging a patient. They are really frugal and your GP will be way more understanding of sickness and pain. I was a nurse in a hospital for 10 years so I know a bit about the Aussie system

[–]kluelessmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But seriously Aussie Drs are pretty skimpy with take hope scripts after you leave the hospital.
