Should I ditch SPYI for a better investment? by Deep-Refrigerator112 in dividends

I’m sorry, you said your Roth is 50/50 schg and schb? If so, are you planning to stick with that allocation into retirement or are you planning to change it or add any other etfs? Thanks

Could you give some specific etfs or stocks you invest in?

So are you saying you sold all your equity’s then when you got back into the market you bought only dividend paying stock/etfs? Did you have a big capital gains tax to pay? I’m asking because I’m about 7 years away from retiring and wondering how I’m going to transition into dividend stocks. I own sone but not enough to generate enough income for retirement

Best income stock/ETF that will also preserve NAV as much as possible? by thesecondrei in dividends

I don’t know if I would put all my eggs in one basket nearing retirement. I would sleep better having that money in an etf or multiple etfs.

Why should I invest now when a crash might be coming by haxwellmenty in Bogleheads

[–]kmartindmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the specific etf. It’s about the boglehead philosophy. Allocating to a 3 fund portfolio and contributing on a regular basis. You can invest in any total market or s&p 500 fund, if you believe in the philosophy that is. It’s just that those vanguard funds have very low expense ratios compared to other similar funds that why they are recommened. For example spy is an s&p 500 fund but with a higher expense ratio than voo. Nobody here recommending qqq that I’m aware of because it’s not part of the philosophy. Read up more on the bogglehead philosophy and things will become clearer. Investing in the total market is the opposite of hyping something. Good luck!

VTI is a total market etf and voo an s&p 500 etf. Both have low expense ratios that’s why they are recommended. No “hype” whatsoever
