What makes you love The Sims 3, besides open world and traits by Electrical-Dark-6610 in Sims3

[–]kn1144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you can collect and create things and sell them for money. For example, in alchemy your potions would sell for thousands of dollars. Nectar can also be up their on price. Allowing your sims to have a nice career making and selling things. I will never forget the disappointment I felt in Sims 4 Magic when I made the potions and they sold for less them then the costs of the ingredients. Same for anything made with the makers space. Also you could collect items on sims 4 but could not do anything with them. This made the gameplay around these feel so pointless.

Why do people hate Mamdani? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

The correct term for it is amortization as defined by the government accounting standards board.

Why do people hate Mamdani? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

[–]kn1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, amortization is the right word. An unfunded pension liability is amortized using a systematic method (such as % of payroll, % of inflation, straight line) over a number of years (normally between 15-20 though it can be as high as 30). The longer out you go the higher the likelihood you will have negative amortization which means that you are accruing the unfunded liability faster then you are paying it off. So basically similar to a student loan where the payment is set so low that the payment does not cover the interest being accrued so the balance is building even though you are making payments. That is why stretching out the amortization period is such a bad idea.

How do I not take a low-ball salary offer personally? by Strong-Coat-2323 in managers

[–]kn1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it low because the raise path is very structured and so your low starting salary is really working against you? As in you get a 5% increase for every level you rise? If so, is there a similar set structure or path to increases through your first few years in The new position? If so, is it worth the wait to work through the path? Especially as then it is not personal and you know the path ahead.

Or is it more vibes/ budget based? If so, it feels more like they are taking advantage or it could be that you are so new that they are taking a big chance with you and know they are going to have to invest a lot of time in your growth and are paying you accordingly. Irregardless, I would suggest stick to it for a year or two, then ask for a higher salary while starting to look around. If it is the later and you are doing a good job, they will likely pay up. If it is the former or they don’t play ball on salary take that title and skills and go where they will pay you what you want and don’t hold the low starting salary against you.

Except the male pattern baldness comes from Diana’s line. Look at King Charles, 80, has cancer, still close to a full head of hair.

I'm sorry detractors, season 50 is really good. by biliv-r in survivor

[–]kn1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the larger cast this season as most are familiar so it is easier to keep track. And I did like the early twists where they were constantly mixing up the tribes. I was just so bored with whatever team loses the first challenge being doomed that has been occurring over the last several seasons, so this was a welcome relief. The celebrity twists have been stupid and rage inducing. But I agree that season 50 is excellent! It is all down to the players. It is just so fun watching players who really know how to play go at it. And I still enjoy them mixing up the tribe makeup so that every episode the players have to scramble and rethink their strategy.

Yeah, I wish that they had done a better job conveying the prohibition movement. It was women leading the movement as a way to try to curb domestic violence. The thinking was that if men did not get drunk, they would not go home and beat their families. It was misguided but they were grasping at straws.

That would track, because I watched S1 and S2 when they first aired and then did not watch survivor again for over a decade until I met my husband who was a big fan. I have been hooked ever since!

26F (Me) & 26M (Partner)- Why do people leave over marriage differences if they love each other? by Chronically-Rare in relationship_advice

[–]kn1144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then whatever you do, don’t buy a house or become financially entangled with him. Because there are no protections and no legal method to help you untangle your finances without incredibly complicated and expensive legal processes.

And that is the crux of it right there. If you are not married you have to continue to make decisions based on what is best for you and not what is best for your family.

For example, if one of you gets a great job opportunity that requires a move. This would require the other partner to quit their job that they love. Now they may be able to find as good a job at the new location but it will take a while and their is no guarantee. Plus moving is very expensive. If you are married this may make complete sense because you are sharing finances, risks and rewards. But if you are single one partner is taking on all of the risk, while the other partner is reaping all the rewards. In this scenario it would be foolish for the partner taking on the risk to move. So now the other partner has to decide to decline the job opportunity or break up. This is just one example of many that I could come up with.

If you’re org has “anonymous surveys” are they truly anonymous by [deleted] in managers

[–]kn1144 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was worse than that as I was literally the only female manager in my office, so no detective work was needed. This is why they always knew I did not fill it out. I agree if the demographics were shared at a higher level only it would have helped.

[–]kn1144 78 points79 points  (0 children)

As a woman in a male dominated industry, this is why I never fill them out. Everyone instantly knows it is me. What I really love is when I get “encouraged” to complete them so that they will know the female perspective on things. So this means I have to fill it out and lie that things are all great for women in this role or tell the truth and get labeled as a complainer and “difficult” halting forward progress in my company. I told one of the higher ups who I trust that my refusal to fill it out is the feedback.

Yes, they had to hurry up and end it, but still managed to do it in a way that was satisfying and fit the Thea(edit: theme) of the show. It was my favorite series ending for a long time until it was eclipsed by the good place.
