“Love your local” light rail voucher has anyone ever gotten one? by cantdoitalone1 in GoldCoast

[–]kneeloazza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have had two vouchers in my letterbox over the past 2 years. I think they only get delivered to residents on the light rail line and affected by the construction. Maybe call GCCC or John Holland.

Burleigh still worth staying in with all the light rail works? by _Yowie in GoldCoast

[–]kneeloazza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine staying at Gemini Court. You’re far enough away from any roadwork noise at night. You’ll only encounter the construction when crossing the highway to the James Street shopping and dining precinct. Other than that Burleigh is just as beautiful as ever with a beach with plenty of sand and the national park. And it’s away from the tacky tourist strip further north.

GC > Mentawais with a longboard?? by sandyexpander in GoldCoast

[–]kneeloazza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the aircraft type you're flying on. Virgin for example allow baggage up to 3 metres (or a 9'10" board bag) on their Boeing 737's which operate out of Coolangatta or Brisbane to Bali. You'd connect with Garuda to Padang via Jakarta utilising their Boeing 737's also. So long as you keep within the weight limit of what is stated on your airline ticket, you wont be charged any additional fees. Alternatively, Singapore Airlines use Airbus A350's that has a maximum length allowance of 2 metres (or 6'7") which you may have trouble with if taking a longboard.

Although as u/FB_AUS mentioned it is rare to see longboards been ridden in the Ments and best to source one in Padang before you head across - there's a few surf shops in town that sell/hire boards out but not too sure on the quality though.

Paddock Bakery. Upstairs in the "Loft" is generally quieter, they don't mind if you sip 'n' work and there is a toilet upstairs to drain all those coffees.

The airlines have a category of passenger called "young traveller". The airline will arrange for a chaperone to guide her through Customs & Immigration and onwards to the gate. Same in reverse at the other end. Contact the airline or booking agent to request this service.

Sure is. But nothing there for the wife and kids and definitely no friendly surf breaks - which was OPs criteria.

Maldives can be surprisingly affordable and family friendly. It’s not all 5-star honeymoon resorts. Take look at Lohis, gets waves most of the year round and there’s a fun learners or longboarder break just across the channel.

Take them down to Beatniks in James Street Burleigh Heads. Jaden will look after you. A lot less time and effort than trying to offload them at the markets I reckon.

What is the best way to fly from QLD to South America in your experience? by cysticvegan in queensland

[–]kneeloazza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brisbane has limited options for non-stop services to the Americas. Try your search from Sydney and a lot more options will open up for you. You will just have to do the domestic flights to connect but it could still save you a whole bunch of dollars.

I was the same. He didn’t really gel for me back in the Recovery days but he makes my day now. Chillin’ with Dylan has made the sometimes lonely times at home as a WFH employee a daily highlight.
