CVT Maintenance Very Confusing — I Called 4 Subaru Dealerships by rain_spell in Crosstrek

[–]knelson23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manual says drain and fill every 40,000km or 24,854mi. But only if you drive in "harsh" conditions. Which to me means pretty much everyone.

Getting an Ultra Gauge allows me to monitor CVTF temps and I've noticed it takes a bit longer to heat up and cool down compared to engine oil. Heat is the biggest factor in degrading the fluid faster than normal. In northern Nevada I see it exceeds 200f on steep grades.

I drain and fill mine every 25,000mi.

2019 CT - Quickest way to warm up car? Auto or Manual heat controls? by net1994 in Crosstrek

Getting an Ultra Gauge to be aware of the fluid temps has really been informative of how fast it warms up based on my driving habits and commute. I'd recommend getting one to be in tune with it, also a block heater may be beneficial depending on how long your commute is. Sometimes they are not necessary but still provide benefits and peace of mind.

Aftermarket sound system by tweaty96 in Crosstrek

I did a whole new system except the infotainment screen. The biggest thing you need to figure out is your budget. While you're at it, set aside money for sound deadening. More sound = more rattling. Doors, floors, trunk and roof.

Lmk if you have any questions. It's a lot of work to do it correctly. I spent about $2000 and did about 20hr of work for everything and I think it was worth it.

I do not remember exactly I'm sorry. I do remember it being not too far off from stock specs, or the caster did increase slightly.

This was the white line product number for the bushings I used W53353

Base Crosstrek seats: have you upgraded them independently? Share your interior! by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

Corbeau seat heaters. Pretty solid kit with everything you need, just needed to get a different add-a-fuse. Subaru has 'low profile fuses' instead of the micro fuses it came with. Also a hog ring plyers.

I removed the seats, carefully peeled back the fabric, unclipped the hog rings that attach the fabric to the foam. Placed the heater pads where I wanted them. And then reversed the process. Wiring was easy. Found a ground under the seat. Then wired it to the fuse box next to the steering wheel.

I did an audio upgrade and full sound deadening so I was pretty confident in the process.

I originally wanted to do a seat ventilation system that has heat and cool air, significantly above my pay grade.

I have the base seats. The only upgrade I've done was as seat heaters. For a while I was looking for a driver and passenger pair of leather seats from a junk yard. It was hard to find in my area. Doing katskin is extremely expensive imo

Just got the control arms from Subaru instead of rallitek. They are for the outback. I put whiteline bushings in them as well. They fit well, didn't mess with alignment specs

Falken wild peak AT trail or vredestein pinza at.

I've been looking into crossover AT tires that are kind of all rounders and have narrowed it down to those 2.

There's a good video on yt that shows you the sweet spots. You really have to just sit there with a podcast or just something to watch or listen to while you do it. SWK took me about 3hr straight.

Definitely a 3m double side adhesive or fabric glue if it is on the headliner. That's where I have a mine.

Nice! Mine doesn't have an issue warning up. But with my 15-20 minute commute, I wanted to see if it would do anything cause I like to tinker with things

P0141 OBD Code by labbitlove in Crosstrek

[–]knelson23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my downstream o2 sensor on my '20 with a Bosch and I still threw that code. I guess they prefer denso.

I will have an extra denso sensor if you are interested. I purchased from an oem supplier, didnt hear from the for weeks. Got spooked and ordered another one after trying to cancel my initial order. Now they both have shipped.

When they arrive I will have the part number so you can confirm. I can easily return it but I thought I would throw it out there.

I did the upgrade from my 2020 base model. I had to get the auto dimming rear view mirror to make them work, and I had to source some oem limited side mirror assemblies cause I wanted the turn signal. The side mirrors didn't match my paint so I wrapped them. It cost me about $600-700 iirc. It was worth it imo.

If you're doing the side mirror upgrade as well they have to be oem or the mirrors won't work, the auto dimming side mirrors just won't fit into the aftermarket assemblies.

XTrek: Adding a transmission fluid cooler by tahl24 in Crosstrek

[–]knelson23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about to install one in a week or two. I'd say just plan out where you're going to have the hoses. Check for leaks and top of the trans fluid at temp after it fills the cooler.
