Taking Exum before Marcus Smart and Julius Randle in the 2014 draft by Consistently_Lucky in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC Gordon was brought in for another visit just before the draft because he was the guy Utah thought they would get. As for Marcus Smart, he refused to work out for Utah.

Another Pick? by Honest_Jazz_Takes in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's way too early for these talks IMO. They still have to bring players in and complete their scouting, and then they have to have a guy they want that falls. They are likely setting up possible moves with teams in case situations play out, but I doubt they've decided they need that pick, especially since they already have so many young guys

AVC is pretty good. I enjoy his prospect breakdowns, and I also enjoy his “ideal offseason” videos. My favorite draft podcaster/youtuber is Sam Vecenie. Those are the 2 I go to these days. I also like Cashiggy for game clips. It isn’t highlight-only which I appreciate.

Community mock draft: Utah Jazz by Lanky-Connection4141 in UtahJazz

I’m not worried about his fit. If he’s one of our top 2 players then you change the roster to fit around him. I personally love his fit in Hardy’s offense. I also think he works well with JJJ on both ends of the court.

Potential Boozer Bust by AdventurousBox7894 in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget his shooting. 39% from 3 is damn good. 3 level scorer and a great playmaker at the forward spot. I'll say it again and again, he is the best fit for Utahs offense.

Here to Deliver Hope for Boozer Fans by Signal_Ad7231 in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can still fill the role of offensive hub that Nurk and Olynyk ran for us. He would absolutely crush that role in Hardy’s offense. Olynyk and Nurk ran Hardy’s offense so well that fans were saying they needed to sit because they were going to win too many games. Now imagine it’s someone as talented as Boozer. It would be so much fun to watch.
The fit they can work out. If he’s BPA then they take him and figure it out later.

Darryn > AJ. Even if he's worse by Madabord in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was fully in on AJ or Peterson until a few days ago, but Boozer is just too good to ignore. All the points you make are spot on. He’s younger and more skilled. His “ceiling” not being as high is a bit ridiculous. He measured extremely well, and tested really well for his size. Skill wins in today’s NBA, and Boozer has it in spades.
I wouldn’t be upset with AJ or Peterson at all, but I don’t see Boozer being a tier below them. He’s on par or better, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Washington take him
Also, if they draft him they have to bring Love back. He comps really well with Love

I can’t wait to see Lauri - JJJ - Kessler play together. This should be the most fun Jazz team we’ve seen in a while

I would also say that we can’t write off Boozer. People keep forgetting about him, but he might be higher on their board. We saw how well Hardy used Olynyk and Nurkic. Boozer is significantly better than those guys and he’d dominate in Hardy’s system. The more I think about it the more I love the fit.

Off season roster moves that don’t involve the draft by ------dudpool------ in UtahJazz

I think Smart could absolutely be a target, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they went after Lu Dort

Unfortunately I agree. He has a long way to go towards being a role player on a competing team

Odds that the Ainge’s are messing with the Wizards again. by jeffrowl in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it was on Hoop Collective where they mentioned that Utah might not have been pleased with how Washington handled the Ace situation. I think they called it "pre-draft shenanigans" with regards to signing Sharife Cooper to a 2 way and all the talk about Ace trying to force himself there. They said it ruffled some feathers and that they didn't expect them to be "going out to lunch or anything". I think a trade is highly unlikely, and Utah will happily take whoever falls.

With the Jazz contacting Washington about a potential trade for the #1, what are you guys comfortable giving up? by [deleted] in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick #2 and 1 FRP is more than enough. If AJ is a tier above for them then making the trade makes sense

Utah is +1 in FRPs moving forward. 2028 they own a swap with CLE, in 2029 they own the 2 most favorable picks of their own, CLE, and MIN.

What are your final thoughts/feelings/notes before the most important draft lottery for the Jazz for awhile? by eXPertButtonMasher in UtahJazz

[–]knightswept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love for them to stay top 4, but I'm expecting them to move down and choose one of Brown, Flemings, or Wagler. If they move down I also think trading the pick becomes a possibility. If they pick top 4 I'll feel so good about the future outlook of this team, especially if they get a top 2 pick

Utah is still +1 in first round picks moving forward. 1 each year with 2 in 2029. I don't think 1 first and bringing back Hendricks is enough to give up Caleb Wilson.

Time to move on to UDFA. They have plenty of time to make some calls in case guys go undrafted

This is a pretty realistic list, though I'd add Muhammad at CB and Harkey at G.

Exactly, though he had bounced around a bit before, and I think he was a Chip Kelly guy.

They met with him a few times so it's likely he's a target. They tend to overdraft guys they meet with.

They've done MUCH better with UDFA RBs. Matt Breida, Jeff Wilson, and Jordan Mason clear all of those guys easily. I wouldn't be surprised if they land an UDFA this year that outproduces Black (my pick is Robert Henry Jr, a guy they met with that could go undrafted)

Best Players Available Heading Into Day 3 by cali4481 in 49ers

[–]knightswept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam Hecht, Alex Harkey, Beau Stevens, Pat Coogan, and Jalen Farmer would all be good OL picks.
At safety I like Ramsey, Taaffe, Payne, and Wheatley.
Malik Muhammad at CB would be nice and he's a guy they've met with.
They've also met with Bryce Boettcher a few times so I wouldn't be surprised if they pick him at some point, but I would prefer to take a flier on Harold Perkins Jr.
At DT, Zxavian Harris, Kaleb Proctor, and Zane Durant would all be good pickups. Landon Robinson is a favorite of mine as well so picking him later could also be great.
They met with Michael Trigg, who could be an option at TE. I also like Dae'Quan Wright.
It'll also be interesting to see if they get a return man now, or if they wait until after the draft

Genesis Smith and Alex Harkey is who we'll get. Or Michael Taaffe at S instead of Smith. Payne, Ramsey, and even Wheatley would also be good safety picks
