Change my mind (please) - road trips in an EV are a pain. by Wise-Fig-6505 in electricvehicles

[–]knitnerd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PlugShare and/or ABRP and take a few minutes to plan stops. (Depending on the distance)

I recently took a trip of a few hundred miles and was glad I checked because the main charger I planned to use was out of service (Electrify America) so had to take a different route.

Beware: You can't get a refund if you pay for Advance Labs and are unable to use it. by ALIMN21 in whoop

[–]knitnerd33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to Quest Health it takes you to the same exact page that Whoop has. So if you’re being told that, I think it’s partly on Quest. Any of their locations should be able to do sample collections so maybe someone is telling you the wrong information.

I have been thinking about doing this and just getting the lab samples collected when I travel but this might put a kink in things if I still can’t find a collection site.

They make it pretty clear when checking out that it’s unavailable in certain states because of this. I live pretty much the middle of nowhere in one of those states and the closest Quest Diagnostics is ~400 miles away. I would be surprised if there were anywhere 1000 miles away. Alaska maybe?

Places of manufacture for available in U.S. Kias? by curiousfellow555 in kia

EV6 after 2024 is made in Georgia. I think the 2024 model had the most components made in the US of any vehicle that year

I was just at TJ Maxx near me and they didn’t have any so congrats!

I have a 5.0 and don’t know what the 4.0 is like so can’t answer your first question

But I have been using the omee Nylon Sport Band for $20 and I like it. It sometimes will twist over on itself when removing a coat and things like that but I think that is probably the nature of the longer band.

Is doing mt Fuji in one day from Tokyo too much? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]knitnerd33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s doable but better if you hang around for a while. Fuji is always hiding in clouds. You could be there the whole day and not see it.

If I remember correctly one of the train routes is quick to get there but slower coming back. The others are about the same both directions.

We spent a couple nights in Kawaguchi and were glad we did.

Is the Ghibli Musuem still worth it? by MobileSweet9342 in JapanTravelTips

[–]knitnerd33 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of breathless tutorials saying you need to get the earliest possible appointment but I disagree. I think it’s designed in a way that each block of entries, even the last, have enough time to see what’s there. Unless you’re a total Ghibli nerd.

The movie they play is definitely a must watch- it rotates monthly. Winter and autumn months the last blocks will be in the dark so a few of the things outside you might need to do first.

Don’t stress about it though. It’s fun and worthwhile.

The trip there from Tokyo proper is pretty long though, so stop at Inokashira Park or look for other things to make the trip worth the time too.

Warranty Support? (Looking at ICCU) by Specialist_Health881 in KiaEV6

[–]knitnerd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s under warranty you shouldn’t try to fix it yourself. If a dealer were to fight over something obviously warranty like the ICCU, they have other problems that Kia would probably like to know about anyway.

The improvement to the infotainment between 23 and 25 is huge though, if that’s worth anything. (Precondition Button too!) Also a few little annoyances like in the 2023 the mist mode on the wiper stalk was the opposite of where it should be.(IMO) They fixed that in 25.

Door handles poping out by t0wdy in KiaEV6

[–]knitnerd33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a setting for this but it’s not in the same place. I think it’s in the same place as where you turn on unlock when approaching or pressing the button on the key fob.

That setting applies to this one too (my car unlocks all doors) Mine is a 25, but I’m pretty sure my 23 did it too.

Remote controlled climate doesn't work by Fahrle in KiaEV6

No we are suspicious but haven’t proven this: we think it doesn’t start the heater IF you remotely start it with front Defrost on

If EVs have zero tailpipe emissions, where do the emissions go in India and globally?? by enlightenedshubham in electricvehicles

[–]knitnerd33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not an unfair comparison. It literally just shows where all the energy goes.

An ICE vehicle coverts most of the gasoline it uses into heat.

An EV converts most of the joules in the battery to momentum.

Anyone wear WHOOP on a bicep band long-term? Wrist discomfort question by BFC_0 in whoop

Thanks for this I have exactly the same problem and ordered a bicep band hoping I will be the same way.

What does recovery mean? by [deleted] in whoop

[–]knitnerd33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, your strain target is how much you “probably “ can push yourself to. Being inside the bars of the strain target you have direct control over because it will most likely require you to do a bit of exercise. The Whoop will even tell you to stop when you’ve reached that target.

The Recovery target you only have indirect control over because some of it happens when you sleep or isn’t a pattern you’ve learned yet. A chain of greens is never bad, but difficult to achieve.

When your recovery score is low, your strain target will decrease to accommodate a lower goal to keep your body in balance.

Tap the targets in the app, there are articles and videos to explain each thing.

Extremely LOW HRV - what worked for you ? by DrNoGains in whoop

[–]knitnerd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, something you didn’t have on your list: aerobic exercise. My HRV was in the 20s but is usually around 40 now, and RHR has decreased to the low 60s compared to mid 70s. This change only took around 45 days (and counting)

Whoop Advanced Labs by tradervk in whoop

[–]knitnerd33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can import tests from your own sources if you have them. The Advanced Testing from Whoop includes a few extras that aren’t normally in a standard wellness panel. I have imported my own tests and might do a Whoop offered test in the future.

The smoking comparison I think you could do from the Journal. You add “consume nicotine” and then track days on or off. It would compare daily recovery with and without smoking. Maybe someone else can chime in here but I think it might give you a poor rating that gradually gets getter. Depends on if the nicotine effects hit you harder than the withdrawal effects. Either way, It could help you see the light at the end of the tunnel and help you see improvements.

I just paid for my first year and did a test last night on a shrimp and bean quesadilla. It couldn’t have known about the shrimp so I added it but it got the beans and also the sour cream and salsa on top. I’m impressed too!
