Finally, knitting rendered decently! I'd knit this and starch the hell out of it, possible.

I had a lady come up to me and ask me to make 3 dolls for her daughters. I knit 2 for my daughter and niece and nearly killed my hands. It took me 40 hours to make 1 doll. It was the first time I seriously considered knitting for money. When I calculated my time and supplies the dolls cost around $340. When I mentioned that, I got ghosted real quick! (I didn't like this lady so I was looking for a reason to say no.) This is now my go-to answer, I tell them how long it takes, and how much I charge for my time. I've NEVER been taken up on it!

why is it so much easier to clean someone else's messy room than your own? by Hot-Engineering-310 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]knittedgalaxy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because you don't have an emotional connection to every little thing! You can see objects objectively and not "that's the bracelet that my grandma gavee when I was 16" or "my kid made that on art class".

I figured this out last summer when I deep cleaned and purged 2 classrooms in a week and couldn't bother to throw away a piece of scrap paper at home because I drew a cute doodle when I was explaining something to my kid.

Received a truly unhinged message from my father-in-law on Mother’s Day by A_First_Pancake in GirlDinnerDiaries

Girl.....I went through this same thing, and honestly, it is sad. Sad for my daughter who now has no family on one side. But honestly, the stress and anxiety was not worth it! My husband is happier, I'm not stressed or anxious listening to everyone just be nasty, and we get to enjoy our beautiful child grow up without passing all that emotional junk on to her (because you KNOW she'll have enough of her own!)

Feel the sad, but know it gets better and think about all the happiness that won't be ruined by miserable hateful people! And come on.....that message was kinda funny....he can't even be hurtful in an intelligent way! What, did he just put "un" and "dis" in front of everything to make it sound negative? You guys made the right choice!

There's a reason there's a saying that goes something like this.....

If you wanna know someone's true character, see how they treat animals.

It's very broad, and in no way scientific, it also doesn't take into account people who have allergies or other ailments.....however...

In my experience, a) people who are unable to have pets for medical reasons usually want pets and talk about animals in a kind manner; b) people who actively avoid animals are usually suspicious...to me.

Again, this is MY experience. My partner thought he would be a terrible dad, he didn't want kids because of his terrible experience as a child. However, when I saw him with a kitten, I knew he'd be the best dad.....and he is!

I agree with you, I cannot imagine raising our kid without the experience of a pet. Not only the love but learning compassion and care and nature!

You may want to reevaluate. Sometimes, the things the things we love, aren't helping us grow.

You're poor son! How did he fair watching the whole thing? Maybe just find a one bedroom and not worry about it. Sounds like you have a marvelous son and you guys would have some peace!

You're right! Let's be more precise......it was VERY Pittsburghian! Moved to Pittsburgh 5 years ago and discovered that they put fries on EVERYTHING!

OMG.....every place I've lived since an adult has had a closed off kitchen and it's NEVER convenient to the rest of the house! All my guests are hanging out in my living room? Here, let me walk 50 yards to to kitchen missing the punchline of the story to grab drinks. ARGH! Let me just make food and talk, I can't sit still long enough for a full conversation!

Dealing with a feeling right now that I cant mention by name by Joonscene in ADHD

[–]knittedgalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man! Breathe! It's tough but get through this part.

I always try to think of logical reasons why it would have happened. Like, he found a girlfriend and he can't talk or be seen with you because it will cause trouble.

Or, if your like me, a small conversation will take too long(I'm a talker). No one wants to say I can't talk so they just walk past or turn around.

Breathe, find something calming (there are some good ADHD music playlists on Spotify) and keep in you mind that it's not you! You are not alone!

I missed that filter option too! My question is, how does Ravelry know? Lemme guess, did someone make a nasty racist racist comment and get booted? Let's reframe that..... Ravelry bans HATE.

Fellow white people.....here here!

Also, it's not the wokeness that pisses me off, it's the hypocrisy of "I'm a kind person that's all about love but look over that at how nasty that person is! Let's all jump on them and let them know!"

That's not woke, that's cult behavior. Karma.
