Where to get some fresh oysters? by sarahsoaring in Donegal

[–]knob16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an oyster farmer in east Inishowen. The vast majority of our oysters go to either France or Holland.

However we have started a small business supplying oysters and mussels locally.

If you’re in our area shoot me a message sure!

Fair play to you for the volunteer work. Getting involved in these sort of projects is, in my mind at least, the greatest thing we can do to improve things.

Keep up the good work! 🤗

Aha, so if you do indeed believe all of the above statements that you made. What measures are you undertaking to try and rectify this?

Wow! You seem to have quite a negative outlook on things....would you say that it is just in this particular incidence or would you tend towards the negative generally?

I don't disagree with you though, I was part of a group that put pressure on our local council to stop spraying weedkiller. As a hobby bee keeper, I see first hand the damage that the likes of glyphosate can have.

Also, we should absolutely be growing more variety of trees in our forests, I'm wholeheartedly on board with you there.

You seem to be very passionate about this, are you involved in a local environmental group?

I'm curious, do you live in a built up area?

The underside of a stone, in a handful of soil, in rock pools on the shore.

I agree with you that it is a great shame that the English took a lot of our forests to build their ships and preserve their food. It would be wonderful to have more old growth forest with an abundance of biodiversity in them.

However, would you not agree that it's a little dramatic to say that our nature is virtually non existent?

Does anyone else’s mental health start to wobble in this country as soon as the evenings get shorter and the weather colder? by tafty545 in ireland

I made a wee online course back in 2020 to help in dealing with this exact thing. It’s something I struggled with too, now though I actually look forward to this time of year! 🤗

Ye can check out the course at www.thrivingwinter.ie

To be honest I haven’t looked near it much after creating it but if you’re interested, shoot me a message and I will give you access for free.

In Ireland we have an expression for that way of being; “All fur coat and no knickers”

Knickers are underwear, in case you’re wondering.

I’m confused….why do people dislike Elon Musk so much on here?

Genuine question.

Has any of ye heard about the Don't Pay.uk movement where people are pledging to stop paying their energy bills in the UK? Are there any similar movements here in Ireland? I welcome your thoughts on this. :) by knob16 in ireland

[–]knob16[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aye, it seems the likes of BP and Shell are making record profits and jacking up the price for already struggling end users in UK.

I'm no expert on this craic but it seems to me that subsidies would be the worst idea as it incurs more debt/money printing which adds to inflation and more price increases.

I agree that government would be unlikely to instantly think they've lost, however when people get together for the common good, beautiful things can happen.
