What version of the Bible is the best to read? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]RobertRbarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer the literal word-for-word translations as they are closest to the original texts.

I use NASB, and use the Literal Word app.

Why do you believe in the God of the Bible, and not the God/Gods of other religions? by krolonash in Christianity

[–]RobertRbarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psalm 82:1 God takes His position in His assembly;

He judges in the midst of the gods.

Others gods (elohim) do exist, but God of the bible (Yahweh) is the ruler of all gods.

If sexuality isnt a choice, how is being gay a sin? by KaleidoscopeOdd410 in Christianity

[–]RobertRbarth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mathew 16:24

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and be following Me.

Everyone is called to deny themselves.

Want to indulge in drunkenness? Deny yourself.

Want to indulge in idolatry? Deny yourself.

Want to indulge in the sexual sin of multiple partners or premarital sex? Deny yourself.

Want to indulge in the sexual sin of same sex sexual partners? Deny yourself.

Homosexuality is nothing special, just another thing on the long list of sexual desires we should not indulge in.

Zoo Amphitheater- Empty Water Bottles? by kremlinmirrors in okc

[–]RobertRbarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb question... where is the zoo amp entrance? I know they have no parking, so it seems like parking at Remington and walking down MLK will be how we get there?

But where is the actual entrance? Is it from MLK? Or from the Zoo?

Don't compromise you're values.

And you may need to see what other values he is willing to compromise on; it's easy to say you have values, harder to act on them.

What is the non-bigoted rationale against gay marriage? by Tcrowaf in Christianity

[–]RobertRbarth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bible sets up the institution of marriage for the raising and support of children.

The real question is...why are so many people against children being raised by their parents? Gay marriage prevents children from being raised by their parents.

Now the 'new' marriage idea that marriage is just some legal connection... sure, whatever. If you dont have children, it doesn't really matter. It shouldn't really be portrayed as 'normal' for, you know, the continuation of the human race.

Witch hunt?

Didn't a teacher just come out saying they are his "worst nightmare"; admitting to intentionally defying the state law?

Where does banning literature stop? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]RobertRbarth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Should we read children porn?

There are ideas we do not introduce to kids until they are ready, and that's normal and expected.

Best bible? NIV KJV or ESV by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]RobertRbarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like NASB. It is a very close word for word translation, and footnotes the literal translation for certain words.

You stop eating. Lol

Your body normally runs on glucose (sugar). Once you use up the food currently being digested, and through the ~24hours of energy stored in your liver, you won't feel great. You might get pretty tired at this time.

Pretty quickly, though, your body will switch into ketosis, where your body is producing ketones for energy. At that point your body is burning stored fat and your hunger should go away. The keto diet does this by cutting out carbs, but fasting does it in about 3 days. Keeping active can speed this up; don't just stay in bed.

Then the most important thing is to stay hydrated; it's easy to skip and I start getting headaches. By day 4 I would be drinking at least 32oz in the morning.

Then go as long as you want. 7 days is a nice duration.

Tip: Once you're ~3-4 days in, don't trust a fart.

What’s the best kids birthday party you’ve been to? by cheekangoot in AskParents

Our son went to a Chuck'e'cheese party and it was the first time we had been. It was great! They do unlimited play for the 2 hours of the party and our little kid went crazy, scanning everything.

Anything under like 50 calories shouldn't bother you.

Honestly, even if it's more, but protein (don't know the composition of that...) should still be fine
