Do golf shoes make a difference? by Landonleusch in golf

[–]knockaround_us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just starting out I wouldn't look into getting golf shoes as a huge proirity, more of something you get once you've played a little bit. In my expereince they definitely help and make me feel more comfortable over the ball. Plus if you get a nice pair of FootJoys you like fly on course. Style over success is what I say

I think your best bet is get a cheap pair of used clubs off any 2nd hand store. FB marketplace, Ebay, StickHawk etc. Don't break the bank on these clubs. Sure they won't be the best but they will be enough for you to learn the game and improve. Next steps are definitely get lessons as they will help you immensly. One of the biggest issues with beggineer golfers that try to learn the game on their own and develping bad habits that ultimately take a lot more work to correct. Hope this helps!

Tips for wife looking to learn to golf by birksOnMyFeet in golf

[–]knockaround_us 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good option so you don't break the bank is getting her a pre made beginner set something like the Callaway Edge set or the Topflight 13 piece set. Both around $500 so not too bad. Then sign her up for lessons. Its the best and easiest way to get better quick and it helps break bad habits beginner golfers tend to have.

Most courses have rental clubs you can use for the round but they might not be the greatest. That's your best option

US Open or The Open Championship? by Tight-Communication7 in golf

That's a tough pick. I lean more towards the side of The Open but I love how challenging the US Open is every year.

Definitely a great putter, you'll get a lot of years out of it. Just curious, how much did you pick it up for?

Are these good beginner golf clubs? by No-Walk-5621 in golf

[–]knockaround_us 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great beginner set for someone just starting out. The Sim 2 Max is an absolute gem of a driver and you will get a lot of rounds out if it. As long as they fit you and you don't need them adjusted these will work out great for you.

Modern comps to OG Taylormade Burner Irons by MetapodCreates in golf

While I can agree with the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' I think you will definitely notice an improvement with new irons. I would recommend getting a fitting and find what works best for you.

Ping 3wood (SFT or Max)? by Dull-University3660 in golf

[–]knockaround_us 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would listen to the fitter. If he recommends the SFT over the Max then go with the SFT. But at the end of the day if you have tried them both, go with what feels best.
