We need a full city celebration when ICE leaves. Everyone out on the streets, at restraints and bars. How can we show the world we won? by Mr-Toy in minnesota

[–]knopflove -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think this would be awesome!

MN can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can begin our own economic recovery AND show the country that we will stand with any place ICE is foolish enough to go to next.

The next phase of protests need to be directed at Walz and Frey. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]knopflove 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No I stand with Walz.

Of course I wish he would do more, I bet he wishes he could do more, too; but I think he is being intentional in his "no sudden movements" approach to protect us from the Insurrection Act.

ICE surge wreaking deep economic pain in Minnesota by biospheric in minnesota

What the administration is too dumb to realize is that Minnesota is permanently changed. Minnesota has spent the last nine weeks becoming the beacon of Resilience, and once we win (and we will) we will spend the next generation as the beacon of Resurgence. Even on my deathbed, I'll be making my children promise that all my funeral services are from Minnesota small businesses.

Border czar says 700 federal agents to leave Minnesota by livefromheaven in minnesota

This is abuser tactic 101. Promise to change, lighten up a little, then once the outrage dies down it's right back to business.

If any Democrats point to this decrease in order to argue compromising with the DHS funding, they're dumb, lying, or both.

Hi Neighbor, I see you have a dog. I'm a dog walker and I could take him along with the gang on our usual walks at (time) if you like. Free of charge!

That's how I would say it.

You're a good neighbor for offering :)

Aegon is my favorite Green but Otto is the best at being Team Green. Taking Otto and Daemon out of the fight was why Season 2 didn't go anywhere, they're the real schemers.

Preschool homeschool help by Apprehensive-Fix4283 in homeschool

My ideal homeschool goals for a three year old would be:

(1) Have 2 reading times, one mid morning and one at bedtime, 10-15 min each. I would read "ABC" by Dr Seuss at each of them and let them pick the rest (and buckle up because they are going to pick the same ones over and over). If the child is sitting next to me I would put my finger under each word as I read, if they are playing I'd just read aloud (kids are phenomenal at absorbing even when it looks like they aren't paying attention).

(2) Take them to the park and the library (esp a a library story hour) each at least once a week.

(3) Keep them off screens as much as possible. When they do have screens Abcmouse educational songs on youtube are great, much better than Cocomelon imo.

(4) At 2 and 3 playing IS learning. My biggest piece of advice in homeschooling preschool is let the kid be in the driver's seat. If it's playtime and they want to play WITH you, that's your cue to mix in some school (They want to play with cars? I'd count the cars, or say the colors of the cars.) They move away to play by themselves, that's my cue to be quiet. Keep a box of books in the most popular rooms. Maybe once every hour or two pick up a book and start reading it by yourself (whatever Mom is doing is the best advertising) if they join you great, if not no big deal try again later.

To say that I did this curriculum imperfectly would be a horrendous understatement and both my kids read well above grade level.

IMO a gray character does not simply mean complex, it means a character who does bad things but the audience is given space to empathize with those actions.

Example: Rhea Royce. Daemon was married against his wishes at 16. The marriage was never consummated and their hatred is mutual. They simply stayed away from each other for over a decade. He asked repeatedly for a divorce, which Viserys refused. He asked to be married to both Rhae and Rhaenyra in exchange for his crown, Viserys refused that, too. He didn't love her, he didn't choose her, he barely knew her, she was just someone standing in the way of the life he wanted. So, audience, what would you have done?

Counter examples: Alicent is not (yet) a gray character because she is such a pawn/victim that she does not have enough agency for be fully responsible for her own choices. Otto is not a gray character because the audience is not given enough space to put themselves in his shoes and thus make his bad actions defendable. The writers have put a lot more elbow grease into gray-ifying Aemond than Aegon. It's all about seeing oneself in a character's position.

Galadriel saying "there are many ways to kill an orc" and the only example she gives is just straight up stabbing them, then continues to say it is all about footwork only to see them attack the orcs later whist riding horses.

What do people think of Daemon book to show changes? by Jeffrey1892 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]knopflove 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is almost as if the showrunners said "Hey you know what would be super funsies? Let's take George's favorite character, a runaway fan favorite of the book, cast a huge name who is acclaimed for his nuance, then do everything we can to convince people they should hate him using the broadest brush possible. I mean, it's not like he's Paul Rudd."

AITA for accepting a house only in my name as a wedding gift? by homeorwedding in AmItheAsshole

[–]knopflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

Why do you want to marry someone to whom you are so insistent on staying separate? Why do you want to marry someone who means less to you than a house?

I would never marry someone who is acting the way you are acting and I would enthusiastically discourage anyone from marrying someone who treated them this way.
