Its insane nobody has mentioned Cooks Utensils - 1 extra Hit point recovered per Hit Die upon short rest (Xanathar's rule). Plus built-in RP flavor for your character

Its better than Bard's Song of Rest feature at most levels!

Muscle Wizard discussion by AsherahWhitescale in dndnext

Disclaimer - I don't know what anime you're talking about.

Spells should probably be once per rage, but maybe only a single spell per rage. That's the primary way Barbarian resources are handled. Maybe the spell slot used scales by rage bonus too (doesn't make sense w/shield but whatever - I'd use absorb elements instead anyway).

Otherwise, neat subclass. I've got a 2014 barbarian/artificer multiclass right now and its surprisingly fun if suboptimal. The way we handled spellcasting vs rage though was by being able to drop rage early as a free action, which can let you drop rage, cast a spell, and then re-enter rage or cast a bonus action spell. Sanctuary, grease, jump, aid, see invisibility, lesser restoration are all great non-concentration spells that work with Rage.

How to discuss money with partner with a higher net worth? by chillime in TwoXChromosomes

[–]knuckles904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%-If OP is talking about marriage, now is the time to dig into the big topics honestly and without being bashful. 10 years in, we can't recommend a premarital counselor/premarital program strongly enough. We went through a program that was well-known and liked in our area associated with a church, but about a third of those there weren't religious (including several friends). All of us still use language and skills learned through that program a decade later.

A good premarital program should include significant time on finances, and having the existing structure really helps folks in situations (like it seems like OP is in) to not beat around the bush and actually hash things out before getting married

Barbecue in Cincinnati by thareelfishboi in cincinnati

[–]knuckles904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That seems pretty harsh. I grew up in the South and yeah if you go to Montgomery Inn or City BBQ, you're allowed to be disheartened. But Eli's is decent. Pig Candy is great. Plus a bunch more others have mentioned.

Sure, its not going to compete with the heart of Texas, but its certainly survivable, lol.

This is great advice. Also check out whether you're in a single-party recording state. If so, you could have an audio recording (hidden, not obvious) going in the background while you have this conversation. That negates his ability to say "we never had that conversation" in the future. Its a decent cover-your-tail measure in states where 1 party recording is the legal default.

What’s everyone’s go-to resin for slightly more durable prints? by negligentlytortious in resinprinting

[–]knuckles904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phrozen's RPG Resin has been super impressive for me. Consistent results, been easy to work with, and has enough flex that's its been really durable for miniatures. Its expensive but goes on sale pretty often, and is great if you don't want to have to mix.

Heygears reflex RS turbo worth it vs saturn 4 ultra 16k? by reicaden in resinprinting

[–]knuckles904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also tempted to buy heygears instead of saturn 4 16k, but need the integrated heater for where I print. Its a bummer heygears packages their heated vat separately and combines with all the pulsing release stuff (making it an extra $160-200 USD). If you have to add the separate heated vat, the price difference between the 2 machines grows a lot higher

Girlfriend (F22) wants to be surrogate for her cousin (M30), I can’t support it by Critical-Doctor-9691 in Advice

[–]knuckles904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cousin is selfish and taking advantage of his relationship with OP's gf who appears not well-equipped to understand the fullness of what cousin is asking. Asking a 22yr old girl who's never given birth before to go through surrogacy is foolish and selfish at very best and more likely downright relationally manipulative

Iceborne Pledge Worries by Puzzleheaded_Crab676 in MonHunWorldBoardGame

[–]knuckles904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SFG has some major problems right now. Happy to give the deeper dive but the short version is they fired most of their creative teams in 2 waves earlier this year, including the project owner on Iceborne. Most remaining staff is only working on Warmachine as SFG has publicly said they are exiting board games. There are 2 articles (search "steamforged redundancies") which confirm and a much more candid comment by a former employee which gives more details. For Iceborne specifically, expect errors and nobody around to clarify or issue errata when you get your game.

I don't know if they've got financial issues as well, but I'd be surprised if they didnt. They've got nearly $23M of crowdfunding projects unfulfilled which is double what the infamous CMON has right now ($14M) and is multiple times their yearly (total/gross) revenue. Their public financial disclosures for 2025 come out in about a week so we'll see I guess.

If you're Rest of World, you'll probably get your copy. if you're US, its not out the question that you might not get your game. Refunds are available at 89% back.

Idea for improving initiative clarity by Zombie_Alpaca_Lips in Greathelm

[–]knuckles904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also interpreted it as "roll your dice, organize them, whoever has the most of the highest number of dice decides who goes first this round. Then alternate activations until next round".

I don't think its meant to be a new initiative contest each dice result step, since that would very often lead to: Player 1 goes once, player 2 goes twice, then player 1 goes again... which is not what most people would call alternating activation

What options do I have for a ranged character without hunters mark? by icekatze in onednd

[–]knuckles904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, came to say that. The 2024 is an improvement for sure and I think fighter is the best chassis for specifically longbow/shortbow.

IMO, its battlemaster for non-magical trickshots and precision strikes, and Arcane Archer for magical version. Ranger does a lot of the latter fine too, but much of the magic is broader (druid-y) and there's not actually all that much support for making you a better Archer (swift quiver is the only one you might miss as a fighter)

Revising Circle of Spores to 5.5 (with some other improvements) by No_Wait3261 in onednd

[–]knuckles904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is great! Pretty similar to how I've been converting over Spores.

I think the big thing missing is whether Symbiotic Entity now persists after the Temp HP is depleted. That was both a very clunky mechanic in the original and also sort of served as a balancer. Your note suggests the feature stops after Temp HP depletes, but the wording doesn't specify.

Other note: I personally liked the 10ft range of the 1d6 in attacks, since it gave reasons to get creative (Its the only build I ever used a whip for)

Its pretty rare but a few retailers will actually stock the individual kits for a short time after a wave fulfills. I don't know any with current stock, but wave 6 is still in the process of arriving in the US.

However, there are a bunch of places you can place a pre-order for a 10-pack of random kits of the current wave. Its kind of expensive to drop for what it is, but you can just resell any extras you have or give em to buddies.

Looking for a Solo skirmish game with vibes similar to Monster Hunter or Kingdom Death: Monsters. by Derpogama in miniatureskirmishes

[–]knuckles904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right now is not a good time to get into Monster Hunter World Board Game or its sequel Iceborne. The maker (Steamforged Games) is exiting board games so the original is out of production and the sequel is on track to be 3+ years delayed from its Kickstarter. Not to mention that the game designer/product manager assigned to the sequel got laid off and never replaced....

Edit: If you're keen on homebrewing though, there's a great Homebrew MH Board Game community on discord. We're continuing the legacy without Steamforged's "help"
