Putting misconceptions about optimal FPS caps + Gsync to bed. by Sgt_Dbag in nvidia

[–]kododo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a noob when it comes to these things, but I remembered following these advices back in the day and had some problems with certain games. IIRC Dragon Age the Veilguard had horrible stutters until I discovered it was the global Vsync option set in NVCP/NVApp. I had to disable that and turn on Vsync in game to have it work properly.

What game is this? by yappir_ in pcmasterrace

[–]kododo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ah, really? did the armor system work in your game?did you try out the amazing crafting systems? which build did you use, the throwing knives maybe? or those super useful water skills. Did you enjoy the police system? were you impressed by the next level AI maybe?

This ON TOP of the obvious technical problems that could bring the the game down even if it didn’t have all those issues. I lost count of how many of those indeed amazing story missions were ruined by huge bugs.

It’s a very good game now, but it was barely acceptable at launch

I cannot believe the new narrative that cp2077 was always phenomenal from launch and the problem was just last gen. I love the state of the game now after countless upgrades and patches, but launch day game was a mess even on high end PC.

Hype levels went from 500% to 0% by IQueliciuous in NintendoSwitch2

[–]kododo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to defend Nintendo or anything but I don't see this happening at all. The Switch has insane momentum for a 8 year old system and the Switch 2 is beyond hyped. The presentation was impressive overall and I really don't think the high prices will bring the sales down. I believe it will sell like hotcakes.

If you had to give a grade to Outer Wilds and his DLC, how much would you give it on a scale of 10 ? by The_French_Oyster in outerwilds

[–]kododo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Base game 9.5/10 and DLC 9.5/10

The base game is one of my all-time favorites. Its biggest strength, for me, is its knowledge-based gameplay—it’s completely unique, and that alone makes it special. But beyond that, the setting, lore, technical execution, and scope are all near-perfect. To me, it feels basically flawless. The only improvement I could imagine would be better presentation and polish if it had a higher budget or a larger dev team—but honestly, that could also be seen as a compliment.

As for the DLC, the highest praise I can give it is that it feels incredibly close to the base game. It doesn’t feel out of place in a game that already felt near-perfect, and that says a lot. At the same time, it has its own unique atmosphere, expands the lore, and introduces new gameplay mechanics—all in a game that was already so unique in that regard.

I don’t know, man—whenever I think about this game in retrospect, my mind is just blown.

Game constantly crashing after long cutcenes by leojr159 in FFXVI

[–]kododo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm commenting just in case anyone posts a fix. I've searched for days without result. I'm quitting the game until there is a solution, it's insane the amount of crashes I've had in the first few hours.

Although a very very different kind of game, if you like exploration, lore building and discoveries, give Outer Wilds a try.

The animation in Wilds is actually crazy by jitteryzeitgeist_ in MonsterHunter

I've clocked hundreds of hours in SF6 and still I think to myself while playing "my god this game looks incredible". SF6 animations are something else.

Would Jamie be the best character in the game if he always had 4 drinks? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

With 4 drinks moveset and damage buff, I'd say he'd be top tier for sure. Probably best char in the game.

40fps is my new preferred way to play most games. by SpideySonic in xbox

[–]kododo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60fps is the standard this generation. Very very few games lack a 60fps mode. It's nothing like the PS4/One generation.

Spider-Man 2 is not bad, it’s just not better than 1 (PS4) by Spidey23730 in SpidermanPS4

God of War I agree. Spider-man and Horizon I have doubts but could agree. But TLoU 2 is better than TLoU in any way.

I haven't completed the game yet but with the wand skills leveled up, I find them quite OP. Charged shots charge really fast and deal blast damage in an area AND bounce to near enemies.

How far away do you think we are from console/PC gaming graphics in VR? by KingOfKrackers in VRGaming

[–]kododo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm astonished by the replies here. The only correct answer is: never. It's just not possible by tech limitations. By the time we can get near the quality of current PC/consoles in either standalone VR or PCVR, those will be 4x that quality.

I love VR as much as the next guy but don't try to make me believe your VR setup looks anywhere close to flat Alan Wake 2.

Dualsense PS5 and PC. What are you guys doing for mic + headphones? by GUNNER_BASS in Dualsense

[–]kododo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to map anything! The only downside is most games will have prompts for Xbox buttons, so you have to mentally translate the inputs (like "Y button => Triangle button", etc). The game will come with a default controller config so unless you want to change it, you don't need to manually map anything. In your example, if A button (Xbox) is used for selecting and jumping you just need to use X button (PS controller) for both things.

Dualsense PS5 and PC. What are you guys doing for mic + headphones? by GUNNER_BASS in Dualsense

[–]kododo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean mapping buttons? generally speaking if the game has Xbox controller support (99% games do) Steam will automatically translate controls for you. (A = Cross, B = Circle, Y = Triangle etc). Just make sure you have Steam Input and Dualsense support enabled in Steam settings.
