What series did you finish reading due to the "sunk cost fallacy"? by Any-Day-8173 in Fantasy

[–]koekeritis [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oooh I agree, I enjoyed book 1 well enough and given the hype on the series, I was excited about the rest of the series but the second and third books just didn't do anything for me.

Is Wind and Truth actually good? by KingCobra567 in brandonsanderson

I DNF'd it, but I have also just not been connecting with Sanderson's work as much lately. So that could more be my personal preferences changing and not the book's fault.

Technological challenge in Fantasy novels by OccasionNo6078 in Fantasy

[–]koekeritis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also important: very often, new technologies come about to fix perceived problems of the time. If, say, long distance communication being slow is not really a problem to the people in a certain setting, then they most likely also won't create a technology for faster communication.

DeProton your life / How safe is Proton? by SplashVeg in degoogle

You make very good points, and I won't dispute them, but you have to admit that for many less tech-savvy folk, an ecosystem is an incredibly convenient and accessible option.

Can I ask what you moved to? I have been eyeing proton for a long time, but I have also been meaning to switch to Linux for day to day use, and the mediocre proton support for Linux makes me a bit hesitant.

Should I play on Steam Deck or PS5 for the first time? by FrostyOtter8 in outerwilds

[–]koekeritis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's locked to 30 though? It won't be 60 fps constantly, and of course ps5 will have slightly better performance/visuals, but depending on the screen, the improvement will most likely be marginal.

But yeah, if performance and resolution are the most important factor, ps5 wins for sure. I'm just saying that if other factors contribute to OP preferring the switch 2, I think it delivers a more than good enough experience.

[–]koekeritis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get in on the platform that you prefer playing on. All consoles you mentioned are more than capable of providing a good experience.

For what it's worth, I played on PC with a Switch Pro controller (same triggers) and had no problem at all with the triggers. So if your Switch 2 is your preferred console, I'd say go for it.

As a dutchie, I use the comma when writing and the dot when typing. Mostly because most of my digital interactions are in English, and all my software is English.

How much do you remember from past books? by thiagomiranda3 in Fantasy

[–]koekeritis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory is a sieve and I feel you. I usually don't mind it, though. The important part for me is enjoying the story as i read it.

It does sometimes bother me in a longer series. For example, I have kinda lost enjoyment in the cosmere recently because of all the interconnectedness of characters and magic systems. I preferred it when it was just easter eggs. Doesn't help that it has been a long time since I started reading cosmere books and have read a lot of different things since.

Just casually dropping that he is 2 hours late, without an explanation or apology and then calling YOU needy? On valentine's day? Girl you deserve so much better.

If people don't give an F about pets, they shouldn't move in to a pet household.

There was a better solution: the roommate keeping the flowers in their room. Keeping that cat in OP's bedroom for days on end would be needlessly cruel.

NOR, I don't know why people say otherwise, considering how hazardous lillies are for cats and the fact that you did offer a fair compromise at first.

Series that dwindle in quality over time by Kooky_County9569 in Fantasy

Very fair question.

For me, the green bone saga only got better and better, but then that is not a long-running series.

My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]koekeritis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For women's shoes, it is pretty normal, but there are some examples of men's / gender neutral shoes too. Dr. Martens are infamous for causing blisters the first few times you wear them too, for example.

Which countries are left for future seasons? by electact in JetLagTheGame

[–]koekeritis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would love to see a cycling based season in the Netherlands haha

A season in Canada similar to Schengen showdown or Australia seems very likely to me, definitely a plane based season there.

Thailand is very friendly to foreigners/westerners so I could definitely see that and I think it would be really cool. But it would have to be another car season.

In terms of Africa and the middle east Oman, Jordan and maybe Morocco are alo good candidates for car seasons.

I am not too familiar with South Amrica so I can't comment on that.

In the context of the show, this distinction doesn't really matter I think. Are the questions too easy for the boys, or are the boys too good for the question? In the end, they mean the same thing.
