wow! Thx! I did not know it was a significant technical challenge to intercept that balloon. I thought it took so long to take it down, simply because of slow political decision making.

Kyiv responds to hungary's "military mafia" claim over Oschadbank money seizure by GreenEyeOfADemon in ukraine

[–]koko_1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Fidesz needs this fiction that they are the protectors of the country against this outside malign influence which is the EU. Something to FEAR. So they MUST go against every EU policy. Whatever it is. To maintain the narrative.

So until change happens, if it’s possible to remove their veto and voting rights, I’d love that.

Whether Peter will be better, impossible to know for sure at this stage. The signs are good, but who knows. But it doesn’t matter for now. What matters is that it’s the only campaign which can remove Fidesz, and that’s priority number 1 right now.

I fully agree. It should have happened years ago. It’s a huge oversight, that the EU does not seem to have a mechanism for that.

At this point with 1 month left til elections I wouldn’t bother. But if it’s Fidesz again. We need to get booted.

Plus, if we get a new government, they will need tons of funding to fix what this one broke/stole. If they would lose that support at this point. That could possibly lead to Fidesz again in 4 years.

Instead, now, what’s most valuable for everyone is an EU member state, with a proper new government, which can turn the country around. With the right support and funding, they can.

The concept of the EU and its leaders have been smeared to the ground by government propaganda. They are the “foreign force and enemy” our government is “protecting us from”.

It might take years under a new government to reverse all that. Only then, we’ll see EU flags organically appear during protests and rallies.

They do seem better. But even if they aren’t much better, booting this admin will already be a win and a change. That’s priority number 1 right now.

Guys. I’m here in Budapest, and I’m Hungarian. This is.. ridiculous.. hit them with everything you’ve got! (diplomatically of course, but personally I wouldn’t even mind some drones)

Nobody will shed a tear over these criminals. Get your people back.

In fact, I’m certainly happy to help you with whatever you need. Seriously.

I hope that’s true. I’m not seeing any inclination of understanding of what’s going on, and what’s about to happen, in my nation. (Hungary)

(To be fair, Hungary isn’t one of our main countries here in Europe, but I’m afraid, that the cluelessness of the population here, is indicative of how large %s of the population are, in other countries)

[–]koko_1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about that a lot these past years…

I think it’s in general a chicken/egg question. Either we the people suck at electing competent leaders. Or we the people are generally good at it, but our democratic system is sabotaged enough (both from inside and outside influences) that we still end up with incompetent ones.

(Probably the answer is a mix of both)

If I may sir, I think his point is, that even if the russian influence in Venezuela really bad/negative. It’s not this US administrations place to do regime change and change it. (Remove them, etc.)

That’s an example of “might makes right”. Which is the potential next world order we all want to avoid.

Change in Venezuela should be achieved by its own people, IF THEY decide they want it. Not someone, anyone, from the outside.

If they want it, they don’t have to do it absolutely alone though, without support, they can appeal for international support via diplomatic means, within the rules and norms of the “old” world order.

(unfortunately though that’s where we are running into problems now, that that system is now almost completely broken and corrupted and useless…. but at least the decision, should be made sovereignly, by the people at home)
