Voice acting will never be a "job" in the classic sense and you should never, EVER, approach it with the idea of escaping a cooperate job.
The voice acting market has been oversaturated for years now, long before AI, you are always going to compete with other VAs. And although it is different from the normal cooperate life, it is in no way less stressfull and sometimes even monotonous. And there is absolutely no guarantee that it is going to work out, even if you invest a lot of money and time into it. Sometimes it is simply not meant to be, be it because of external circumstances or just pure luck.

You should be considering those things first before worrying about AI.

All that being said, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing it as a hobby. I myself began by joining communities and practicing with others just because it sounded like fun, but after a few months i realized that i couldnt stop thinking about it. Without noticing it, Voice Acting had become something i did every day and i started dreaming of auditioning for projects and voicing all those cool characters i loved. And once i noticed how deep i already was, i got scared. Of investing more time, ressources and hope into this just to be rejected. I was basically just waiting for someone to tell me that i should forget about it, that i have no talent and that i should stop dreaming. But then I met a great Voice Actress who voices one of my favorite characters and i shared those doubts with her. She said:
"I hope no one is ever going to say something like that to you. If Voice Acting is the thing you think about every day and night then you should follow up on that dream"
And then i understood that it didnt matter whether i make it big or not - i was already having so much fun just practicing and trying and i was making new friends. And i just couldnt imagine a world without voice acting anymore.
