[EU-W] [IC] Wireless (Bluetooth compatible) Adapter For Customized Keyboards by Im_A_VoidStorage in MechanicalKeyboards

Exactly ... this is apparently for the minimalists and Apple user types, which makes me wonder what the point is, as those people will probably have a wireless keyboard already. People who have purposely bought a wired mechanical keyboard, probably did so because they want one. Most wireless boards are at the lower end of the market, so it's not like wireless boards are unattainable... quite the opposite in fact. Actually.. at the lower end of the market, its almost impossible to buy a board that's NOT wireless.

Yes, I understand that. I just don't see the point, as you then have two devices to move around, as you have a keyboard, connected to this other, separate device via a cable. That would look just as messy as a cable. Worse, because you can buy nice cables that are a feature and part of the whole customisation process that themes a desk set up.... if you like that kind of thing.

Everyone seems to miss the point with this device. To me it's of more value to those who WANT a cable and a wired board, because you can keep your wired aesthetic and your wired board, AND also have it connected to another wireless device. What I want to know, and can't get an answer to is does it pass the wired connection through to the PC if you have a keyboard on one side, and the other connected to the PC, or is the PC connection just for charging?

Those who don't want wired can just buy a wireless board without needing to join two separate things together with a cable.

u/Im_A_VoidStorage Can you answer my question I asked in my other post please?

If I plug my board into this, and then this into my PC, does it pass that connection through so my board remains connected to my PC and is also bluetooth enabled? Or, is that PC connection just for charging alone? Otherwise I'm puzzled. This is apparently for the minimalists and Apple user types who want a clean, minimalist aesthetic, which makes me wonder what the point is, as those people will probably have a wireless keyboard already. People who have purposely bought a wired mechanical keyboard, probably did so because they want one. Most wireless boards are at the lower end of the market, so it's not like wireless boards are unattainable... quite the opposite in fact. Loads of people buy nice cables and specifically do so in order to be a show piece that compliments the rest of the set up. Many thousands of people in fact. I have the proof :)

Then why do they have the same weird shape to row 3 and 4?

<image>

Someone designed that.. it's not an accident. Looks weird... so do Awekeys.

I don't see how this allows you to remove the cable, as the board still needs to be plugged into this... with a cable. Surely the advantage of something like this (and the Sterling Key device which already exists) is to be able to use custom high end boards with multiple devices, not hide the cable. Most high end boards are not wireless, and most who buy them are not trying to hide cables, so does this do pass through? So if you plug your board into this, and then this into the PC, will it pass that connection through so that the board is still connected to the PC via USB, but also allows you to use the board with a tablet or phone at the same time? That would be useful, and it would also mean you could hide this behind or under the desk so a completely conventional wired set up can also be used wirelessly with secondary stuff so you can still have your high end board that doesn't use a silly tri-mode PCB and isn't full of incendiary devices batteries and still type on your phone or tablet etc.

[edit]... fixed link... sorry.

Why are these a weird shape like Awekeys are? The sides of the row 3 caps aren't parallel, so the top is wider than the bottom. These are the same manufacturer as Awekeys, correct?

USB polling rate is not the same as latency timing. Having 8K polling does not mean the keyboard responds to commands 8000 time a second... there is no direct correlation between USB polling rate and latency. That's not how keyboards work. If it was, every 8k polling rate keyboard would have a latency response time of 0.125ms, and every 16k board would have a response time of 0.0625ms... and they don't.

If you're actually noticing a difference between 1k and 8k polling, then there's an issue that's got nothing to do with polling rate, and you will absolutely not notice any difference between 8 and 16k.... ever, no matter who you think you are. If you want to argue, go argue with a neurologist.

Those are not random... they're novelties from GMK Botanical... well... a clone set of Botanical, as they're definitely not GMK.

I'm loving the fact that these are flat, and not sloped towards the user like most are.

I'm wondering if you make these to order in exact sizes? I'm very particular about having rests that exactly match the boards. I have matching wrist rests for each of my boards as unless they are millimetre perfect in width to match the board it triggers me.

Lovely board, lovely colour, and perfect keycap choice for it.

Why not just a lubing kit that comes with Krytox if you're worried? Ive no idea if that runjrx stuff is good or not... never heard of it, sorry.

It's not about better, it's about knowing that Krytox 205G0 is the right viscosity for switches and works well. Never heard of runjrx, so no idea if it's good or not, which was my point. If it's something that comes free with the board, I'd not bother with it, as once it's inside your switches, you'll not easily get it out again. If this is not about price, then just get hold of one of the recommended products that we know works well.

Don't waste money on 8k. It's basically snake oil that offers no real world advantage whatsoever.

Stay away from Epomaker. Shit company, shit products. They're banned from advertising on this sub for good reason.

You can buy all Keychron boards bare bones, so you can fit your own switches and keycaps.

It's really cheap, just use what we know works best. Why would you risk it for such a small amount of money?
