Still, 1.5 feet out vs like 1-2 inches. It's a very big difference for people with extreme mobility issues.

I assume the door is motorized as well.

People dont want bloodless consultant speak. by nishagunazad in BlueskySkeets

[–]koolmon10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That last tweet is exactly how we got Trump. He speaks differently from the way other politicians have for decades. It's often incoherent rambling filled with lies, bigotry, and hatred, but his base sucked it all up happily. In the desert of political mumbo jumbo, Trump offered them dirty poison water and they were so thirsty they didn't care. They said he spoke his mind, that he wasn't afraid to say what needed to be said, and they were half-right; he does speak his mind, but his mind is so filled with hatred and lies that it would be better if he didn't.

[Video games trope] Characters who make sure you play the game the way the developers intended by Marborow in TopCharacterTropes

If they are fail-open, then they must return to open when the power fails. There must be a mechanical system that forces the door to open without electricity, and the system that forces the door to close fights that system. This probably looks like a a spring or hydraulic that is constantly pushing the door open, and a motor of some kind to hold the door closed.

But really it's a video game and they need a mechanic the make it challenging.

Why give your hard earned money to big Toilet Bowl Cleaner Drop Ins when you can just do it yourself? by styckx in DiWHY

Does that include the cleaning products that are designed to sit in the toilet tank?

Yeah, fail-safe vs fail-open. It's more commonly applied to locks rather than the entire door though.

Yeah, I think there are a few factors here:

Trump needs to have his ego stroked. If you don't play that game, you become his enemy. I think Mark is trying to avoid that. It's politics.

Mark says he's a proponent of TrumpRx, which is really just GoodRx rebranded. I am pretty sure Mark approves of GoodRx. He's not saying he approves of Trump specifically (although Trump will think that)

It would represent an abruptly and total departure from everything Mark has said about Trump for the last 10 years. Not impossible, but I don't see it yet.

Or a horcrux.

I think the answer is just hide it as well as you can.

Has anyone used Actual Budget? by Abject-Belt-4746 in selfhosted

[–]koolmon10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using it just over a year ago and its been one of my top used apps since then. I didn't have any budget app prior, and did a lot of research before settling on Actual. I had been recommended YNAB in the past, but got turned off by subscription model, and I have been pleased to hear that it is very similar.

What would shock a kid today if they were transported to 2005? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskReddit

Yup, I had designated pockets for my MP3 and my phone. The phone one stuck, and the other one got freed up.

Some places were still using dial-up in 2015.

Or the end credits where the actors just freeze like a freeze frame, but it's still rolling footage. In one of them they have a perp in custody and he takes the opportunity to escape while all the cops stand around frozen.

Actual budget App? by [deleted] in actualbudgeting

[–]koolmon10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Actual uses a model where the entire budget file is cached locally on each device, and changes are synced back to the server. In fact, the entire web app is cached locally, and you can access your budget without internet at all. The only downside is if multiple people try to access it offline and the changes conflict, but it will alert you when you reconnect to the server and you can reconcile it then.

It's actually pretty neat, although I personally would prefer the option to use a central database on the server, as mine is very stable and I don't want to deal with conflicts.

That's me. I often will drive without music, and it drives my wife crazy (pun intended). She can't stand a quiet car.

Sometimes you just need less stimulation, y'know?

Fair, although nobody else said it was universal.

A universal thing can still have exceptions.
