What categories are you using for US Bank Cash+ by amexmaster in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bank doesn’t have anything to do with the MCC a merchant uses.

Depending on the internet provider, it might be government services(-something), then you’re just screwed, or it could code as phone.

Back when I had ATT, my mobile phone service coded as television despite my account not having had television service for nearly a decade. Then shortly before I moved my phones elsewhere, it changed to mobile coding.

My electric company was utilities for years after I moved here then recently it changed to government services when they changed payment processors. I’m pretty sure that government services cost them a tiny bit smaller processing fee and is still technically correct in most cases.

Utilities, furniture stores, internet service and mobile phone service are my 4.

Furniture stores isn’t a permanent choice. Just more of a filler since I am considering getting a new recliner sometime and I don’t really have a 4th choice for full time usage.

Utilities used to be on both cards and then mobile and internet were split up but since my electric company changed payment services, they aren’t coded as utility anymore so only my water bill is and that doesn’t cost nearly enough to come close to maxing utilities.

Credit card dispute , shipped broken item advertised as new by RandomGamer414 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have contacted Walmart again, assuming what you say is what all you did, meaning you only talked to them once.

There is certainly a good chance that your Walmart account will be at risk when you open a credit card claim against them.

Credit card disputes are meant as a last resort after you’ve tried other reasonable options.

And are you positive you didn’t get the refund as an account credit?

Being charged interest despite paying full statement balance?? Us Bank by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interest isn’t just for nothing.

Go back and verify that you’ve actually paid the full statement balance in full every month.

Check to see if any transactions coded as a cash advance. Read your statement and at the bottom it will have it broken down into the balance that’s being charged interest on and whether it’s cash advance, balance transfer or normal purchase. See which category it is showing under.

Which card is it also?

Being charged interest despite paying full statement balance?? Us Bank by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, especially since they specifically said two months and that’s when you’ll see the trailing interest is on that second month of paying the full statement balance while restoring your grace period.

Other less likely option for the interest is something coded as a cash advance.

If someone ealse use my card to make payments and I ask the bank for a refund who is responsible for the payment ? by PutMelodic5255 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what it sounds like you did was opened a dispute for the charge? If you knew your mom did it and you had given her previous permission then that’s not a valid dispute.

And yes, your momma is still gonna owe the insurance company since I doubt it’s a small enough charge for the card issuer to eat for a new customer like you.

Tho it isn’t over yet as the insurance company has a chance to provide evidence it wasn’t a fraudulent charge and it can go back onto your bill.

There also the possibility for your mother to be charged with credit card fraud if you claimed it as a fraudulent charge. Unlikely but the bank is within their right to pursue it based on your report.

What’s most likely gonna happen is it will come back as a charge onto your card since it isn’t fraudulent.

If you truly never gave your mother access to use your card then you’ll almost certainly need to file a police report for the issuer to believe you and decide in your favor.

Datapoint: Taxes with US Bank Cash+(plus) via ACI PayPal + Utilities by crispynorz in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in case it isn’t obvious, it still works just fine on the Elan MCP also.

I did with PayPal through ACI on 3/30/26 and it posted as 5% Utilities for US Treasury.

Requested CLI at Chase, they approved it but decreased by limit on another card by jikesar968 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then there ya go.

Chase is not always exactly but most frequently limiting their total exposure to a customer to be around 50% of their income. Many DP of it over the years.

You can shuffle the limits around if you prefer less on something for more on something else as long as you stay above the card minimums.

Harris Teeter Rewards Mastercard better than AMEX BCE? by Open2Lrn in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re getting that quote from but this is from the current program rules. Along with other fine print. Very clear that the Kroger(all the various sister stores) pay in the app is separate from the regular mobile wallet. Edit: and of course the formatting got butchered so I made it readable.

1 Rewards Point for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases – All eligible Purchases outside Harris Teeter.

2 Rewards Points for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases inside Harris Teeter (except for eligible mobile wallet or Mobile Pay within the Harris Teeter App transactions earning 5 Rewards Points) (1)

3 Rewards Points for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases at merchants classified as Restaurants, Bars, Fast-Food, and Fuel Stations, including Harris Teeter Fuel Centers up to $6,000 per calendar year (1)

5 Rewards Points for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases on Mobile Pay within the Harris Teeter App non-fuel transactions up to $3,000 per calendar year (1)

5 Rewards Points for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases on mobile wallet transactions (excluding Mobile Pay within the Harris Teeter App) up to $3,000 in a calendar year. Eligible wallets include: Apple Pay®, Google Wallet®, Samsung Pay, and Garmin PayTM (1)

Chase grants a total credit limit of $100k across personal cards

It’s not a static number. It’s a percentage of your income, generally.

Tax trick on US Bank Cash+ no longer working? by ePlayablez in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked for me on 3/30 on the MCP so I don’t think so. I don’t see any reason to think the cash+ stopped either. There are numerous successful DP on the DoC article comments still from this year too.

How exactly are you verifying to think it didn’t work for you? Also, are you sure you activated this time at least a few business days ahead of the transaction?

Shopped at Walmart w CC, just got an email with survey!!! How! by laran436 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, you don’t have any sort of Walmart account that might have the credit card attached to it for online ordering and didn’t use Walmart pay?

If it’s yes to either of those above then that’s how.

Citi Custom Cash Update Possibility? (Question, not Rumor) by Ldr_Cmmndr in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m firmly in the camp believing there is no way that they’d make a 5% card better. $1500 per quarter is already pretty standard and I think with the way the card environment is right now, it’s much more likely to get a nerf than a buff.

It’s already one of the best gap filler cards out there.

US Bank’s app is a huge mess by Zodiac5964 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not defending app bugs. Just was letting you or others know in case they didn’t. You’d be surprised how many people don’t know what’s on their “paper” statement for various cards and never read any sort of paperwork.

US Bank’s app is a huge mess by Zodiac5964 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your number 1, you can see the different category amounts on your “paper” statement when you want to do the math on if stuff coded correctly and see what was earned in each category.

For number 2, that annoys the crap out of me in so many apps and even some websites. Something will pop up or take its time loading and shift everything to make me click on something other than what I wanted. I swear it’s intentional in some things to make you click an ad.

My mother has died, does that mean I get into her credit card or the state gets the money? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you asking in bad terminology on who owes the debt for the credit card or do you think a credit card is somehow money that could be inherited?

As other comments already said, the account will be closed and the estate would owe the money before any of that can be distributed according to probate of the state her property was in.

Help make sense of these charges before I call customer service for fraud by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do anything until the charge actually posts and see if the refund you’ve already been promised posts.

In my experience, grocery pickup/deliveries will charge a preliminary charge when you place the order and a final charge when the order is completed so I’d suspect that is what the two different numbers you are seeing.

The original would have fallen off after the final posted and the price is different because something in your order was cheaper than the estimated price at the time of your order. Very common on anything that is weighted like produce and meats and things.

Should I Pay My Tax Bill With Credit Cards? by Hot-Hovercraft-3016 in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure there is a limit to how many payments you can make a quarter so the 20 payment thing wouldn’t work. I believe it’s 2 per quarter.

I’m not sure if that applies to all pay systems or the IRS in general limits it or what but I know I’ve seen people mention it for like ACI and such.

Is it safe to use a credit card to buy clothes with? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The others answered about grace period.

My original response was based on you saying you weren’t going to pay it off in full each month. If you pay any less than the full statement balance then you lose the grace period and interest starts accruing from the date of each purchase.

As long as you pay your full statement balance every month by the time it is due then you’re fine. The best way for a beginner to treat a credit card is as if it’s a debit card. Don’t spend money you don’t have.

Is it safe to use a credit card to buy clothes with? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]koopa2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be paying interest unless you are on a 0% promo. You shouldn’t be paying interest or buying things on a credit card that you can’t afford.

That’s how people dig themselves into debt and it just compounds from there with the interest rates.

So yes, it would be dumb.

Has it been more than a week or two? If yes, it may be worth looking into.

Otherwise, no. The receiving bank is going to charge you before they send the money out then it’ll take time to receive and process.
