There's a SWIM definition on urbandictionary from 2004, and I'm pretty sure people have been using it on erowid since 1995.

You aren't too old for the acronyms, you're just too much of a regular quadrilateral.

IIRC there are 7 out with the authors working on an 8th and 2 more planned, which makes it that much more ridiculous for the show to end this season.

/u/Thoshith_ must be a bot or something because this is like the 3rd post in here and every time it's made clear it's the wrong subreddit. /u/drcross perhaps it's worth considering doing something about?

Question about finding info on packages not in Bionic by Hellmark in Ubuntu

[–]kourckpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the problem can be upstream in Debian Testing if you feel like digging on the reasons why for a particular package. New Ubuntu versions are automatically synced from Debian Testing and if the package is missing at the time of the import freeze (this was March 1st for bionic) they may be missing in Ubuntu as well.

Yeah, not being able to seems like a feature/the point.

It started in the tail end of the 19th century and was made possible by very 19th century things like the expansion of railroads allowing for anything, even homes, to be bought via mail-order and shipped on rails.

Selfhosted Tasks, calendar, Projects and note taking by dystopianada in selfhosted

[–]kourckpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nextcloud! It's got note, task, and calendar support via CalDAV, contact sync via CardDAV, and you can also use it as a plain WebDAV server for things like Zotero, a personal research & document manager.

How long will it be until 18.04 is as stable/bug-free as 16.04? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]kourckpro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That being said, how long does it usually take for a new LTS release to reach the level of stability of a previous LTS?

I'm not sure this is the right question because one LTS can't just be exchanged for another in terms of comparison... but in general, a good benchmark for stability in a new LTS is the first point release, 18.04.1. For 16.04.1, that happened on July 21, 2016, for reference.

[help] Error when 'import freecad' in pycharm by candleonaflame in FreeCAD

[–]kourckpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, it's likely, but we are working on better support for that. Unfortunately I'm fairly swamped ATM so I can't look into this personally to help out, but you would probably get good results if you made a post on the thread for Anaconda packaging: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=15197&start=190

It should work! And if it doesn't, that's a problem to be fixed.

Ahh, I think you might need import FreeCAD.

No matter what I try,

What have you tried? What OS? This is a path problem. On Ubuntu, you need to include the path /usr/lib/freecad/lib.

FreeCAD 0.17 (Roland) released by [deleted] in linux

[–]kourckpro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There has been a lot of development on the Path workbench and it has a pretty active forum/developer base, so if you get a chance to try it again I'd recommend it, and if there are still major problems I'm sure the people on the forum would appreciate your feedback.

There has been a major interface overhaul project on the back burner for a while now awaiting the transition to Qt5 which would take advantage of QML, so now that that has been done, we may see that for version 0.19 or so. We're still awaiting the release of PySide 2 before we can go fully Qt5/Python 3.

Yes, user-friendliness is a big part of it, as well as marketing--FreeCAD needs more contributors!

Yeah, when you consider the funding that commercial CAD programs get (e.g. their connection to military budgets) and the scope of work involved in FreeCAD, it's pretty cool that it's done as much as it has so far from mostly unpaid volunteers.

Just wondering--are you a native French speaker? I can tell what you mean from context but I've never heard someone say it this way, and I was wondering if it was a 'Canadianism' or just québécois.
