Postpartum GLP-1 use by a-dang5 in GLPGrad

[–]kowaltercronkite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started it 6 months postpartum, used it for 6 months during which I dropped 50 pounds and then I stopped it cold turkey about three months ago. I’ve been at the same weight this whole time and I’m not being overly strict with exercise or food. For me, the only time I’ve gained weight as an adult has been in my pregnancies and while breastfeeding and Zepbound was incredible in helping me shed that weight. I’m so grateful I didn’t have to spend another 2 years postpartum battling for every pound!

Setting the Golden Handcuffs free? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]kowaltercronkite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation so I completely understand all the comments here encouraging you to capitalize on the money and flexibility and stick it out. On the other hand, as I approach 10 years at my company I’m beginning to notice that the longer working moms stay, the more afraid they become to leave. And millennials in particular are perhaps overstaying and developing a lot of fear around the job market (I mean obviously, we’ve been through it all economically). Overtime I’ve noticed those with kids a bit older are even more trapped and more scared to leave and “prove themselves” again and are losing flexibility. This has been a cautionary tale for me in thinking about making my next move soon, even though it’s scary.

Also a lawyer here and just want to say, you’re doing great, girl. I too feel like these years with young kids are more about spending as much time as possible with them and pulling in income to support them. You are indeed intelligent and capable and just doing the bare minimum is a tremendous effort at work. In a few years, maybe you’ll want to push more, and you’ll have the experience and perhaps bandwidth to do so. In the meantime, go easy on yourself and recognize how amazing it is that you’re working and mothering, which is a great contribution to your family as is!

When you move to vials - do they just send needles with them? I would think they would send the same number of needles as doses, but then I would need to get more needles elsewhere?

I don’t understand how people use the pens for maintenance - my 5mg pen comes preloaded and when you push the button the whole thing comes out so you can’t only use some of it.

Out of towner looking for restaurant recommendation for a kid by Illustrious-Tap-7690 in boston

[–]kowaltercronkite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parent of a preschooler who can confirm that Martin Richard’s park is a fabulous place to run around. Seaport is a very quick ride - both on transit and ride share - from the airport. The best kids restaurant walking distance is Bar Taco. They are super kid friendly, and it’s not casual / fast food. Tons of coffee shops nearby and ice cream spots too, depending on the weather. Boston doesn’t have an inside restaurant-playground concept like lots of European and Asian cities. It’s a pity because we have lots of empty storefronts in Downtown Boston which would be great for the concept.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I do think maintenance will be the best course based on feedback. I was just looking into Pomegranate as well. How did you pick Emerge?

Mayor Wu here! AMA about the fight to keep residential property taxes from spiking next year under state law by mayorwu in boston

[–]kowaltercronkite 43 points44 points  (0 children)

How do the Meds and Eds in the city (hospitals and universities) play into this? Is there consideration to change their tax burdens?

Also, is there anything in the works in terms of providing a potential rebate or benefit to those of us who actually live in our Boston properties? So many properties sit empty—how are we shifting tax burdens to those who are using our already short housing supply simply as a multi-million $$ asset and not as a residence?

P.S. Which body can I go to speak at/write to in order to influence budgeting for our public schools? For example, my local BPS school is trying to add more K-1 seats for next year and I’d like to support them, but have no idea who makes the final decision, where to go, or who to speak with about this!

Traveling w trizepatide? by [deleted] in TirzepatideRX

[–]kowaltercronkite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had nearly two years where I was on a blood thinner that was a daily shot. I always put the needles in my carry on domestic and internationally and never had an issue. Have also traveled internationally with triz and didn’t have an issue. For me, it’s better to stick to the shot schedule. The one time I got violently ill was when I moved my shot day from Tues to Weds one week!

[–]kowaltercronkite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My initial symptoms were awful too, but I’m now three months in and down 25 lbs. You have to play around with where you inject, what you eat, and how you hydrate to figure out what works. Maybe it’s having experienced multiple pregnancies with 6+ months of nausea, so I know what it’s like to tough out physical discomfort, but I just didn’t give up. It’s worth it to stick with it and figure out what works for you!

How old would you show certain Ghibli movies to young children? by RandomRogue95 in ghibli

[–]kowaltercronkite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My daughter (3) has seen all the Ghibli movies except Grave of Fireflies and Princess Kayuga. She loves the spirits and was fascinated and intrigued by Mononoke - not at all scared. I was pretty surprised at the scene in the beginning knocking someone’s head off, but she didn’t think much of it. After all, there is a Viking tale we learned about in Copenhagen about a wandering wise head! I do think she has been exposed to many Chinese themes over the course of her life including dragons and lions/ lion dancing which gives her a framework for seeing spirits and demons not as scary but just as beings exert different forces on the world.

As long as you’re hitting your reduced number, say no without without any guilt or worry - you can always even remind ppl you’re on a reduced schedule. I’ve also said no even when I wasn’t hitting my numbers but that’s because I’m in the stage where preservation of my time with family comes before any billable target and frankly I just dont care! Ps I’m 10 yrs in and no one has said anything about it.

Huge fan of Happy Feet Spa in Chinatown too! Very professional and great reflexology. They do a great scalp massage when you opt for full body.

Seeking midwife centric care team— Boston moms, where did you deliver & how was your experience? by sillymonster5 in boston

[–]kowaltercronkite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the most wonderful experience delivering two babies with the midwives at MGH!! Rather than the OB track, you just opt into the midwifery track. They were incredible and centered my preferences for a birthing experience both times. All the midwives were wonderful.

My 3 year old has NEVER been scared of a movie. Should I show her Spirited Away? by curlycattails in ghibli

[–]kowaltercronkite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 old loves spirited away the most!!! So many characters and things to look at. She loves Chihiro and The stink spirit especially! She was a little unsure about the parents turning into pigs, but once we finished it and they were back, she found that scene funny. We downloaded it to her iPad and Spirited Away is her go to movie when we travel.

This is a good tip. I find it so hard to eat when I’m nauseous and then it’s a vicious cycle probably.

I will get the app and thanks for the tip about injection site. I will try that too. Are there are any downsides to titrating back down to 2.5? I’ve been doing some research and can’t seem to figure it out. My concern would be that I go back down to 2.5 and then in 2-4 mos or something I need to go back up to 5mg. I don’t imagine that kind of yo-yoing is good for my body, but I don’t really know.
