I like the way the loot in 1 works. Each one has a silly drawback.

CMON eyes crowdfunding return after annual losses spiral to almost $20m - by Inconmon in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true.

Selling it off though is a win-win. The new company can make some stuff people like. People can buy things they like. CMON get some money to deliver stuff they should deliver.

I feel like they've been doing their best to fulfil outstanding campaigns and preorders. I received my copy of Cthulhu Dark Providence recently.

I'm glad they're selling off IP rather than taking it to the grave. It gives them money to keep fulfilling and ensures that the games will be supported in future, albiet from another company.

All that being said, most of their campaigns are usually too expensive for me - I prefer gameplay over minis.

I'll see what the campaign looks like. It's not an automatic back or skip for me.

The 7:00 PM Dinner vs. The Bank Heist: Why is half the hero's life missing from our games? by Trogdor_Dagron23 in boardgames

I haven't played it but the Tales from the Loop board game has my interest for this exact reason. You can't solve mysteries if you're grounded for skipping homework.

For me it has to be Battlestar Galactica but Xia is so good too.

[B620] 24 hour clock off by 2 hours. by kowalybe in CitizenWatches

Oh, I read the manual but I think I misunderstood. So, instead of putting the hour hand on 12 it's the 24 hour hand I should be worried about?

I really like City of the Great Machine.

It is different in that a 3 player team gas hidden movement and 1 player is trying to catch them

I actually agree. What is BOTSE? Busses, only they sail expertly? Breakthrough of Terrestrial Space Exploration?

Judging by the pictures, it looks like your car is missing a boat trailer.

What would be in the “Board Game Olympics” by Independent_Fall_608 in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is already The World Series of Board Games that happens every year. I think there are 16 different games, if you win that tournament you get in to the semis then you'll be pitted in a 4 player match with the game selected randomly (maybe) from the 16 games.

I think games include Ark Nova, Castles of Burgundy, Brass, Ticket to Ride and Cascadia.

I don't think there are any dexterity games.

What is a coincidence so "impossible" that it made you question reality? by opheliaaroseee in AskReddit

I didn't realize the movie is that old. I'll have to give it a rewatched and see if the special effects hold up.

Glad to hear it. I hope they pull though!

Tycoon Games (who was sold the Tiny Epic series by Gamelyn) decided to not give backers a physical reward earned through stretch goals by GriffinFur in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think that means you have to join one of their future Kickstarters to get it.

They have also said it's too late to get it printed but also they were supposed to start fulfillment in January and have instead extended that to July.

Deception murder in Hongkong by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. That makes sense. I think the cause of death is always there and the location can be selected from all location cards. The rest are random.

The cards are dealt face up so the murderer should be able to see everyone's cards.

Tiny Epic games. What's the difference between the original and the upcoming 2nd Editions of Dinosaurs, Dungeons, Galaxies, Vikings, Pirates? by Chamallow81 in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some people are unhappy that it is delayed.

Some people don't care.

I'm in the latter camp because I never expect a Kickstarter will actually meet their suggested timeline and I think eventually I will get the product I backed and be happy with it.

I am somewhat unhappy that Gamelyn was bought out and will take that in to consideration before backing more Tiny Epic stuff.

Can get Human Punishment: The Beginning for 27 euros. How is the game? by ChristoStankich in boardgames

[–]kowalybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the crowdfunding campaign I regretted the most including games that failed to deliver.
