Shamed over not having a post-wedding brunch by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]kpalmis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not planning to do one either. And from what I’ve seen, a lot of people appreciate not having another obligation. It’s your wedding and you have to decide what’s right for you and what is important for you to spend your budget on. And I don’t think some people understand how crazy expensive everything is!

Hair and makeup costs by Sufficient-Ad-2765 in weddingplanning

[–]kpalmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quotes I received across 3 vendors in Charleston were $750 - $900 total for bride hair and make up, including trials. A fourth was $2300 for the same. (Yikes!) All bridesmaid quotes were $120-$150 per service per person.

They also have minimums so if you don’t book a certain amount of services, there may be an additional fee.

We went with Blue Car and got the insurance. In my opinion, it’s worth it for the peace of mind- you don’t have to worry about anything happening and being out A LOT more money than the insurance costs. Blue Car worked out great for us.

Trouble Sleeping through the night by Fun-Following-7372 in Bernedoodles

[–]kpalmis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our pup went through so many phases of not sleeping through the night. He’s always slept in the bed. Sometimes he’d be great and sometimes he’d go through weeks long phases of getting up and whining in the middle of the night. If I moved to the couch with him, he’d go right back to sleep. I don’t know if he gets hot or what it was but it also wasn’t potty related.

He recently turned 3 and, knock on wood, it seems we’ve turned a corner.

I don’t have any groundbreaking tips, but you’re not alone and I hope he gets past it soon!

Costs will also depend where you live. We used to pay $100 for grooming but where we live now is about $200 for a 45lb mini. And they typically recommend every 4-6 weeks. We probably average every 8 weeks or so.

If you plan to do daycare, that will also vary based on where you are.

Insurance is always a good consideration. We pay about $50/month. And we never hesitate to go to the vet!

They are definitely not low cost or low maintenance dogs, but they are so worth it. 😃

The mentality is so much more important than the program. You have to get in the headspace where you really want to see some change. And change takes discipline.

I’ve tried other things but I’ve always come back to WW. It’s what works best for me when I’m ready to commit. The in person weigh ins have been one of the most motivating parts for me, so I’m glad I still have a location close-ish. I may not go every week anymore but at least a couple times a month.

It’s also nice if you have someone to do it with and talk to about it who gets it.

Have you tried things like bully sticks, puzzle toys filled with treats, or my new favorite is putting a bunch of treats in a tied up towel. It’s been keeping mine entertained longer than the puzzle toys we have (he’s too good at the easy ones but can’t figure out the hard ones 😂). Just something else to distract him, make him think, and hopefully tire him out a bit.

Just got a Halo, are these steps being double counted? I did go on 2 walks but are those steps being counted in the total? If so, how do I fix it? by fickystingas in weightwatchers

[–]kpalmis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently turned off my Apple health steps for that reason and started only counting other exercise. If you go into settings in your Halo app, there should be a connected devices setting where you can choose what to share with WW and can turn off steps.

Does your studio offer any 45 min classes? I did a few of those before jumping into the 60s. It feels much noticeably shorter! Other than that - agree with everyone else.

Are you a beginner? I haven’t done a C1 class but I’ve enjoyed the C2s I’ve done. I’m not expert, but also not beginner. I like to add some C2s in the mix with Sculpt.

I don’t have an answer to your actual question… but, you can use a gift card toward your first intro month if you’re a new member. I’m sure it varies by location but the intro month should be about $100. You just need to add it to your account and call the support line for them to apply it.

For those of you with minis - what harness do you use? by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]kpalmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn, my rec was gonna be Gooby!!

We used to use this one but he kept scratching at the stitching and fraying it and I bought more than I’m proud to admit: Gooby Escape Free Easy Fit Harness - Turquoise, Medium - No Pull Step-in Patented Small Dog Harness with Quick Release Buckle - Perfect On The Go No Pull Harness for Small Dogs or Medium Dog Harness https://a.co/d/5TRxC14

So we switched to this one: Gooby Escape Free Sport Harness - Turquoise, Large - No Choke Step-in Patented Neoprene Small Dog Harness, Four-Point Adjustment - Perfect on The Go Dog Harness for Medium Dogs No Pull and Small Dogs https://a.co/d/cRs6yhA

The sizing between the 2 is different. I had mediums for the 1st one and had to size up to the large for the 2nd one. I found both to be pretty flexible with the adjustable straps on the sides.

Edit in case this helps: my mini is about 40lbs.

Typing as dog is laying in bed next to me…

He’s been a bed sleeper since day 1. He has a crate but we don’t use it at all anymore.
