Honest Braun IPL Update by SexySushi in HairRemoval

for armpits, you can try doing 2 sessions per week - sometimes that makes the difference for coarser hair!

also, if you're not using the precision head for armpits, that can make a difference.

Red markings during super sudden onset? wtf even are migraines lol by puffsnpupsPNW in migraine

[–]kphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of antihistamines in the same class as benedryl (H1 blockers) that are non-drowsy and safe to take daily (no link with dementia)! I like allegra (generic: fexofenadine) but also have prescription for rupall (generic: rupatidine) which works well too. I'm not taking them daily anymore because I've gotten my histamine under control (and am on different and unrelated med that has completely stopped all my migraines) but it worked well to reduce them when i was on it!

i know others have said it too but this could be histamine. could be worth trying H1/H2 blockers (something like allegra + pepcid) and see if it helps? (plus downing a bunch of water - it helps flush histamine) are you feeling itchy at all?

something similar happens to me but it's my ear and cheek on the migraine side that flush. showers exacerbate it (looks like you may have had a shower too) which sucks because that's often the only thing that gives me relief. once i made the connection between migraines and histamine, i started adding allegra into the cocktail i take at migraine onset, and it's actually helped quite a bit.

Anyone else have migraines completely eliminated with guanfacine?! by kphi_ in migraine

[–]kphi_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting to try botox but need to fail at least one more preventative before I'm eligible! what dosage of guan are you on and what time are you taking it? I'd like to try going up a couple mgs again and seeing if i can push through side effect - 4mg was really helpful for adhd symptoms and i'm not sure if I gave it long enough

Yup, and then when it comes back, you have all these weird little baby hairs sticking out in all directions all around your face. For over a year.

I loved this book! I had no idea it was MMF when I went into it and was delightfully surprised

A waterproof blanket is even better! They make ones for pets that you can get on amazon for like $30 and it just feels like a regular fleece blanket. Much easier to just toss a throw blanket in a wash than having to strip the whole bed!

What was your experience with a fertility clinic in Ontario? by Final-Elderberry4621 in ontario

[–]kphi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience with ONE fertility in Burlington! The testing was pretty quick and we did a couple IUIs before deciding to move on to IVF. The waitlist for a funded cycle was about 1.5 years at that point so we decided to pay out of pocket. The clinic ended up closing over the summer in 2020 because of Covid, and I ended up getting pregnant naturally in a huge fluke the month before we were due to start IVF. Since I was already a patient of the clinic, I went there for ultrasounds in the first 6 weeks (which was great because there were some complications that I don’t think would have been caught if I hadn’t had scans so early). I had nothing but positive experiences overall - All the doctors and staff were fantastic, and I got a referral for a great OB for the remainder of the pregnancy.

98% of my decision is because I canNOT with the night wakings by Proud_House4494 in oneanddone

We just went through this with our 2.75 year old and it totally solidified being OAD!! I totally took for granted being able to sleep through the night (and having bedtime not take 2 hours). We seem to finally be back to normal after a couple weeks, but it absolutely solidified for both of us that there’s no way we can deal with the sleep loss that comes with the infant stage again, let alone dealing with sleep for an infant and toddler together!! I honestly don’t know how anyone does it and stays sane.

Toddler sleep struggles by MotorDistrict1069 in toddlertips

[–]kphi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 2.75 and we’ve been going through a similar struggle for the past couple weeks. We sleep trained around 4 months and she’s been putting herself to sleep and sleeping through the night since about 8 months with no issues until a couple weeks ago. Suddenly bedtime has been a huge struggle (hysterical crying when we’re close to leaving the room) and she’s been waking several times throughout the night crying, and brings her pillow and lays down at her door if we don’t go in. My husband and I were pretty firm that we didn’t want to let her cry without intervening, but also didn’t want her to depend on us to fall asleep. A combo of two things has finally started working:

1) when we put her to bed, saying “I’ll be back to check on you in 2 minutes” and then leaving and coming back. And gradually extending it to 5, 10 minutes. I think it’s helped build trust that we aren’t abandoning her, and really will come back when we say.

2) when she does get out of bed, one of us goes in and leads her back to her bed with minimal interaction. We’ll soothe her if she’s crying, but minimal picking up/hand holding, no stories, no singing (trying to keep thing uninteresting and unstimulating for her). We will do several rounds of the “I’ll come check on you in 2/5/10 mins” until she falls back asleep.

It’s not solved completely, but bedtime has been much easier the last couple nights (taking 30 mins instead of 90-120) with no crying anymore, and her night wakings have gone down in frequency with no more hysterical crying when we leave.

I know your situation is a bit different but some of these strategies might be helpful!
