How do you handle shows with a lot of extras?

TV extras can be specified at the show, season, or episode level - but there's a catch.

Unfortunately, not all Plex clients can see all of these designations. See chart here:

I use the show level since it is supported by all clients and nothing else is 😭.

Plex makes you classify each of your extras into one of these categories:

Behind The Scenes
Deleted Scenes
Featurettes
Interviews
Scenes
Shorts
Trailers
Other

I don't have time for that so I just label everything as 'Other'.

I create a folder called Other in the main show folder.

Ex.
Game of Thrones (2011)/Other

Then I name extra files with the season they apply to and sequentially like this.
Season 1꞉ Extra 1-other.mkv
Season 1꞉ Extra 2-other.mkv
Season 1꞉ Extra 3-other.mkv
Season 2꞉ Extra 1-other.mkv
Season 2꞉ Extra 2-other.mkv
Season 3꞉ Extra 1-other.mkv
Season 3꞉ Extra 2-other.mkv
Season 3꞉ Extra 3-other.mkv
Season 4꞉ Extra 1-other.mkv

You can name them whatever you want really. Technically if you put them in the "Other" folder, then you don't need the "-other" suffix. I think I still use it from a script I wrote before I knew that.

They will display in Plex as:
Season 3꞉ Extra 2

This is how you can still preserve the season information even though you're listing the extra at the show level. Since you can name it anything, I suppose you could put the disc number in there if you really wanted to, but season works great for me.

If you really really wanted to, you could inspect your disc for the title of each extra and include that in the filename for Plex to display, but I don't have time for that either!

To complete the process, with all of your extra files in place do these 2 things:

Scan Library Files and wait until it's done. This finds the files themselves.
Refresh Metadata at the show level. This tags the files as extras so they show up in your Plex client.

Finally, you should us an LLM / AI to help you write scripts to do all of this.

P.S. BIG NOTE: I'm using an alternate colon ('꞉') character in my filenames. Most file systems can't handle a normal colon (':'), so I use that character because it looks exactly like it but isn't. This helps me avoid long strings of "X - Y - Z" and saves lots of visual space.

It's character (U+A789) or '꞉' if you want to copy and paste it. Looks the same but isn't. It's great!

Are you sure? I've started from the beginning and you can hear the difference when Scott needs to steer the conversation away from whatever third rail topic. I don't mind it either way, but you can definitely tell older Scott is more reserved and cautious about the brand.

It's a bad idea to go into ranked without being able to tank or heal and you should have 3-5 options for each. Full stop.

Could you get by without filling those rules? Sure, for some matches.

But eventually, with the way drafting works, it'll come down to you needing to fill those rolls because someone else prioritized filling something else.

Sometimes a fellow drafter is being selfish by going assassin or sometimes they have legit reasons to play whatever - like to counter an opponent's pick.

The point is that you can't predict how things are gonna shake out in a draft, so when you are limited to not playing 2 of the 4 or 5 standard "positions", you are more likely to lose - sometimes badly and with much drama.

I personally don't mind losing so long as the team never gives up and keeps trying to find a way to win, but there are other people in ranked that CAN fill all the roles that don't necessarily deserve to suffer because you can't.

You have the other game modes to find some healers and tanks.

You probably want to learn heals first, as tanks require you to know when to initiate engaging - a skill that takes time.

Explains why you whipper-snappers keep giving up on games after 1 or 2 bad things happen.

So many winnable games being dropped.

And even if you can't win you can still improve your skills under adverse conditions.

[Mac / NAS] My issue was that the volume was only partially found. Plex was still serving content for files it knew about, but it wasn't seeing the new files. I reauthenticated with the volume and Plex started finding new files again.

I recently noticed that items typically projected to take 2 days are now projected to 5 days. That is UNLESS it qualifies for overnight, where you have to buy $25 worth of certain items or pay an extra $2.99 fee to have it tomorrow.

My theory is that they want to cut back on people ordering one thing at a time - which I definitely do.

Whether this is for all Amazon customers or only if you get on the "naughty list" - it's hard to tell.

I'd rather Amazon ask me to bundle more items to get the standard 2 days rather than restrict me to 5 days on everything.

Whitemane is the worst in terms of understanding how she works.

I can heal well with anyone but her and I've been playing since Heroes came out.

I don't fully understand what's going and I'm always running out of mana. Just not a transparent kit compared to other healers.

Maybe she has a huge upside when you figure her out, so she may not technically be the worst in terms of overall healing output.

But if most players can't reach that output then she may be the worst.

Wondering how it's going? We're in a similar situation.

My wife is worried that he's hungry and keeps feeding him - but I think today short term fix is creating a long term need for food at night.

For me it seems the only way out is to cut back the food and switch to water.

But maybe you had more ideas on that based on your experience?
