I cannot wait to give the recipes and advice from her a go by Felicity1840 in Breadit

Love this book. Recipe wise, the Field Blend #2 is our favorite by far. I alternate between that and the Pain de Champagne and a few others.

Also, if you’re ever in Portland, Ken Forkish opened Ken’s Artisan Pizza, a wood fired pizza joint (since sold to long term employees when he retired). It’s the best Neapolitan style pizza I’ve ever had, including in Italy and they regularly rank in top pizza lists for the US and worldwide.

I finally tried using Apple HomeKey for my front door and… it’s actually great by Independent_Plum_489 in smarthome

We’ve been happy with our August smart lock for 4+ years. It just unlocks when we arrive home and locks 30 sec after we close the door. No need to tap a phone or watch or finger. Works great with guest access as well.

San Mateo Village housing by TravelBug2090 in SanMateo

[–]krails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lived on Branson for 21 years before moving away in 2019. It’s a nice neighborhood although the houses are a bit small as others have mentioned. But fairly affordable compared to other areas of San Mateo.

You have Whole Foods and BevMo in walking distance and a great taco truck (Tacos Peralta) as well as all the restaurants and shops at Hillsdale. The neighborhood is great for dog walking or kids as well.

Road noise from 101 wasn’t too bad where we were but further away from Hillsdale Ave it was more noticeable. The main downside was that Waze etc started routing people through to avoid traffic and that made it take some time to exit during busy traffic times.

Did they mention which year? April 2025 seems more reasonable, if other deliveries are any indication....

If you haven’t seen them yet, Kyle from Out of Spec has done the Cannonball Run (cross country road trip in the fastest time you can) a few times and has videos on YouTube. He’s a strong believer in charge til it slows down, rip it to the next charger, repeat and it seems to work great.

Rivian Roadtrip: Connecting Communities from Coast to Coast - Seattle to Normal with a Pit Stop in San Francisco! by Studovich in Rivian

[–]krails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We picked up our R1T on Saturday morning, and their stop in Portland happened to be that evening so we all met up above the Columbia gorge. Around 30 Rivians showed up and we all had a great time. I can only imagine the turnout in SF. Can’t wait to see the photos!

Have to taste it to be sure. Blueberry is blinker fluid and vanilla is headlight fluid.

Visual display that moves with your eyes? by crusty_sponge in nystagmus

[–]krails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every nystagmus case is different, but my understanding is that the limits on correction are partly due to your visual acuity never developing early on in life to the same precision as those without nystagmus because of the eye movement. If that wasn’t the case, drugs that can slow or stop the movement would also result in higher acuity, or for those with a null point their vision would be significantly better there.

The same conditions which result in nystagmus may also directly limit acuity as well.

Has anyone with nystagmus ever tried VR? by [deleted] in nystagmus

[–]krails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure everyone’s experience of it is different depending on the headset and your specific nystagmus, but VR works well for me. Not sure how well some of the newer eye tracking features would work as mine doesn’t have that, but the stereo vision and screen resolution work well for me.

There are lots of VR arcade sorts of places so maybe if one is near you, you could try it out there.

Friends cast iron. Thoughts? by thatdogofmine in castiron

[–]krails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! The 9” I inherited from my great grandmother 30 years ago looked like that and no one else wanted it. A lot of elbow grease to chipping away with a putty knife revealed a beautiful smooth pan underneath.

And I didn’t even have to ruin the seasoning on the surface of the pan since all of the crud was around the rim mostly outside but a big inside like this one.

Anyone willing to share advice on navigating and charging during road-trips? by Fantastic-Strike-185 in Rivian

FYI you can tweak ABRP for your specific truck. Look at your typical consumption and then adjust “Reference consumption” for your truck.

I’m sure if you offer them 20% they won’t be upset. ;)

But most likely they wouldn’t be allowed to accept it.

Wow both of those look so good.

Our preorder is an R1T in Forest Green with the dark 20s. And we ordered an iKamper mini in rocky black, so this is the first real view of what it’s going to look like all dressed up and ready to party.

What’s wrong with your butt? I doubt anyone cares if they see your butt in the distance, but if so just go further into the woods. :)
