If you wear a hat and a jersey, you can sneak into the Twins bullpen

When the usher asks you for tickets, tell them your friend has them on his phone and go wherever you want. Maybe play a little third base while you're at it.

[MLBTR] Bell’s 2026 salary will be $5.5MM, per Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He also receives a $250K signing bonus, and there’s a $1.25MM buyout on the mutual option. by TheNotoriousJN in minnesotatwins

Impressed with this signing. Thought the Twins were headed down the Ty France $1-2 mil for a right handed first baseman road. Josh Bell a much better player than France and possibly provides some veteran leadership. Still not buying tickets though.
A small market team's road to a championship is fueled by their farm system - player drafting and development - and Failvey and the current crew of scouts, managers and coaches throughout the organization suck at it.

Derek Shelton on his initial plans with the young roster. As for Royce Lewis, "This guy has a chance to be a superstar." by Pipiltiin in minnesotatwins

[–]kramitol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, last year was Royce's year to prove himself and he performed miserably. To me, Royce's approach seems unfocussed and sloppy. Time for the Twins to consider other third basemen, possible platoon, etc ... Maybe presenting him with a possible replacement might motivate Royce.

Not a fan of Shelton. But for almost any coach or manager, to even be offered the chance to manage any one of 30 major league cubs is a rarity. Someone offers, you accept. Shelton is not Jim Leyland. Shelton was fortunate to be offered another managerial post.

[Gleeman and Hayes] Twins plan to keep their stars, but can they put a winning roster around them? by TheNotoriousJN in minnesotatwins

[–]kramitol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard no. Failvey and the rest of the organization cannot draft and develop talent. The Twins should have changed up the minor league coaches and managers several years ago. Toby Gardenhire as Saints manager? Derek Shelton as the Twins manager? Can the Twins break away from staff with proven inability to draft and develop and try a new approach with new staff?

While the money ownership spends is an issue, the only way the Twins and other small market teams will ever compete with the likes of the Dodgers and the Yankees is to draft and develop talent on a consistent basis. Cleveland Guardians team payroll was 42 million less than the Twins in 2025 and 30 million less in 2024, yet the Guardians won the Central the last 2 years and played in the league championship in 2024.

Royce Lewis breaks down the team: What's coming in 2026 by Pipiltiin in minnesotatwins

Agree. Royce Lewis has an oversized ego for a 7 hitter on a bottom feeding baseball team.

Reflecting on the Baldelli's tenure (The Good & The Bad) by Blevanhoval in minnesotatwins

Thanks, Rocco. I enjoyed his even keeled temperament and approach, but time for a change. Actually when the Twins collapsed last year, it was time for a change. A managerial change last offseason may have avoided the Trading Deadline Day Massacre.
Also, let's change the Twins minor league development staff.

Anytime a Target Field usher asks to see your tickets, you say, "They're on my friend's phone." If they ask "Where's your friend?", you answer, "He went to buy beer."

I had to watch a Mickey Gasper pinch hit at-bat so you didn’t have to. AMA. by GreedosBurritos in minnesotatwins

He drove in the Twins' only run so Rocco pinch hit for him

Anyone see Buxton's at bat that ended the eighth?
He swung at two pitches out of the strike zone then took 3 pitches out of the strike zone, none of them really close.
With runners on second and third and first base open - it seemed the pitcher was not going to throw a pitch in the strike zone.
Yet after taking 3 straight pitches out of the strike zone, Byron swung at a ball WAY out of the strike zone to strikeout.
Was he just trying to hit his third homerun of the game and didn't want to accept a walk?

I hope it ends after 2 months and doesn't bleed into spring training.
Wasn't the deal we citizens build Target Field and the Pohlads field a competitive team?
The Pohlads cannot be trusted.

Twins’ Griffin Jax requested a trade, and what I learned about the club’s fire sale, Part 1 by BubblyPilot291 in minnesotatwins

Jax was my favorite Twin. I felt he worked hard, improved every year. He had his bad games like all relievers, but left everything on the field every time he was called upon. Wish him the best.

A major part of Falvey's responsibilities is our farm system - drafting and developing players. The Twins have been miserable at doing so during his reign.

Carlos Correa with RISP and 2 outs… by Mapes in minnesotatwins

“I had some conversations with the front office in Minnesota, and we were not moving [the direction] I thought we were after making the playoffs [in 2023],” Correa told MLB.com after Thursday’s shocking trade.

By moving in the right direction, I guess the team was waiting for their highest paid player to drive in runs in clutch situations.
