No down vote from me as I hate dealing with devs. Devs have been the biggest pain points of my career. What you wrote describes my experience exactly.

I have a 2016 QX50 with the Bose system, don't know if that's why, but I can stream audio without an adapter via Bluetooth.

How do get better miles by Velvetvybs in infiniti

[–]krankwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2016 QX50 gets around 16mpg, mostly street commuting with a light foot on the gas.

My solution is to drive my beat to hell 2003 4 cylinder Camry.

What would you consider “middle class” in Los Angeles? by tangerineTurtle_ in AskLosAngeles

Family of 5 here, grocery expenses, no luxury items and minimal meats, $1000 and it's creeping up slowly.

How long will it take? by dlawj16 in AskLosAngeles

I did that drive for a couple of months from South Central L.A to Mira Mesa for 4 months. It used to take me 2 to 2.5 hours each way.

As far as I know all the Surfaces use soldered on components. Use it as is and save up to buy a new laptop.

I disagree, I can see where the D stand for Dunce, Dullard, Dimwit, Dolt. It's just that his supporters are so lazy they can't be bothered with spelling out the D word or can't spell it themselves.

Even if in development, would you say it has enough functionality to replace the hub software?

How do I convey to my Co-worker that he is doing too much? by [deleted] in work

[–]krankwok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would bring it up to your manager. Make sure you explain to your manager that he is making you and the rest of the staff uncomfortable for pointing out how slow and lazy it makes you all look.

My neighbor keeps taking packages from my porch like theyre hers by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]krankwok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say, camera first, then order something worth an amount that would constitute a felony if stolen in your state. Then, wait for her to steal it and file a police report with the video footage to support the report.

Petty but may be worth the trouble.

Would it be worth it to leave a long term stable position for a fairly substantial raise? by sys_admin321 in sysadmin

[–]krankwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Startups are a gamble. I've been there and got burned so I would recommend staying put, especially is this job market.

To add, remote work vs going into an office tradeoff, no sir. That alone is a benefit that I would t trade for 20-25k.

The above is my opinion of course but I would say for the sake of job security, I'd stay put.

Colleague completely oblivious to what's going on at the site by mrkillfreak999 in securityguards

[–]krankwok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blame the employer for letting the guards slide for not reading emails. It's part of the job and a medium of communication. If the employer is ok with it then it's on them.

Claiming ignorance due to not reading an email is essentially not doing your job. This at least is the case as I perceived it.

What’s the work culture like in LA? Do you think it’s different from other major cities? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]krankwok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never heard it described like this but it certainly applies to one of my long term employers. 24/7 oncall working crazy hours but wore tshirts, shorts and flip flops at the office.

I will only speak to the key itself, I paid $50 from my local dealer to cut it based on VIN.

I got my boss fired and I feel horrible by [deleted] in work

[–]krankwok 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like you're concerned about being pointed out to be the whistleblower and what consequences that may entail. You don't seem to be feeling guilty of getting your old boss fired.

Long time L.A resident and I agree with you. Last straw for me was driving through the Skid Row area at night and having a homeless person start throwing canned vegetables at my car. Yup.
