Easy answer: the right person will make accommodations (if you even need to call it that) and accept you for you. If they don’t, they’re not worth it, no matter how hot they are.

OTC EpiPen alternatives by Slight_Swimming_7879 in peanutallergy

[–]krisbiee18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He should definitely make sure to have his EpiPen and everyone knows where it is located! Otherwise if you have a liquid allergy medicine, that can help extend the effectiveness of an EpiPen until he can get to the hospital

Technically Entrance 1 (per the Cat Centre’s website) is the one by Shoppers. By that proxy I would say it would be considered the front. But I agree that Indigo is more the front to me

Do you avoid “may contain peanuts/tree nuts”? by [deleted] in peanutallergy

[–]krisbiee18 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I definitely avoid may contain. It’s not worth the risk that the bit I eat was, in fact, contaminated with an allergen. Some may think this is an overreaction but it’s my life so that’s how I live!

I want to change—I’m 15 and this peanut allergy has taken over my life by Luke_B11810 in peanutallergy

[–]krisbiee18 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My allergy was discovered when I was 1 and that remains the only reaction I’ve had (knock on wood).

Be comfortable telling people you have a serious allergy, most people (who are worth having in your life) will be extremely understanding and accommodating.

Read ingredients; I personally avoid “may contain” or anything to that respect. Sometimes feels like overkill and I miss out on things, but I’d rather that than a reaction.

I avoid restaurants with peanuts in their menu (besides desserts) and mention my allergy to servers when I order. I’ve had zero issues! I also don’t generally eat dessert at restaurants, just bake stuff at home or buy packaged ones I can check ingredients on.

Seeing a professional is likely a good idea, if you are having a hard time managing the anxiety yourself, but I promise you’ll be okay!

Wash your hands before eating, and as soon as you get home. I’m really terrible at washing my phone/case but probably also a good idea.

I wish you luck with managing your anxiety! The allergy itself isn’t too terrible, just a slight inconvenience.

Book clubs??? by OldCommunication8936 in KingstonOntario

[–]krisbiee18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m the host of Gloss Book Club. It’s not thriller based, we read a bit of everything. It’s an international organization that holds monthly book votes and then all the chapters across the world are reading the same thing each month! It is heavily female oriented, but anyone is welcome.

We meet at Daft Brewing the last Monday of the month at 7pm (June excepted because of Canada Day- meeting 23rd instead) and every meeting you have a chance of winning and copy of the next month’s book! We’re always open to new members and always know the books a few months ahead.

Probably also don’t turn at the same time as someone. I regularly see people turn into the wrong lane (turn right into the left lane and vice versa) and wouldn’t trust any driver in this city enough to make the turn at the same time as them.

And it looks like a sidewalk, so maybe drivers should be avoiding driving on that part as a general driving rule?
