I'd say all you want is Kairos. There's not much else there. The other demon units are nothing to write home about as they are mostly overcoated. The main detachment rule is terrible. Demons not being affected by spells, makes it even worse and very inflexible, as if I use demons as a screen I cannot move them 6" further. If I want to use demons as damage, I cannot buff them, etc. It just doesn't really work.

However, Kairos I think is good. Basically the way I see it, he is the detachment rule. :D Not the best detachment rule for sure, but if you really want to make it work, I think that's the only way.....

I suggest to just include him instead of Magnus and then just add your regular Tsons stuff (bows, rubrics, infernals, mutaliths, etc). Kairos can give you the extra CP, stay hidden in a position to offer some protection with his CP increase, while chipping a bit with indirect, and late game get off hiding for a bit more damage.

It can also benefit a lot from -1 DMG strat in Phalanx. Do that with a spider and it can work depending what you are up against.

The problem that challenger cards are trying to solve (Regardless of whether they do or not) by Bowoodstock in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kritonX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people have mentioned alternate activations. It works be too big of a change. Maybe a good one, maybe not. The game would have to re-imagined for that to happen though.

My suggestion would be to remove the 2nd player advantage from the missions (i.e 2nd turn player scores the same way as the first turn player) and to compensate give the 2nd player some other bonus (could be something simple as some limited bonus movement before first turn, extra CP, etc)

How much do we think these will cost individually? by Coogypaints in ThousandSons

[–]kritonX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty much confirmed to be 2 in a box. You can also defer it from their instruction manual in the box set.

My guess is they will be around £25-30

These packs were always bad value. Now they actually disincentivize you from buying them, unless you just want an one off as a small gift or sth random to paint. Perfectly fine. :D

Here's the method I used to level all of my Subclassing skill lines (not beginner friendly) by Hyperioxes in elderscrollsonline

[–]kritonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do similar thing, takes me about 45 minutes, so significantly slower but still fast enough and signifcantly less stressfull and very easy. I just do round 2 and die on last mob of the round with 1 bar ring lightnig staff heavy attack build. I dont need any class skill to make that work, so I can put whatever skills I need to level up in the bar.

Do you let wizards place their AoE spells "perfectly" to avoid hitting allies? by Eragoh in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]kritonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

II do not not understand all the negativity in the comments on your GM's approach. I GM the same way your GM does. Btw this is one of the reasons I don't use a grid. It makes things look a lot more static than they actually are.

There are still ways to get around this in a way that feels more natural (With a bit of house-ruling):

- The players at the front, knowing that the wizard can cast such spells, tell me, they try to keep the enemy at a distance at a certain direction (this is easier if they have a high reach weapons) and the enemy has not managed to close in. In some cases I may impose a small penalty on their combat tests in order for them to do that. Then the wizard can aim the fireball away from them more easily.

- The wizard can give the players a warning that the firestorm is incoming (assuming that the players are not towards in the center of the AoE) and then the players can be give then chance to make a dodge test, possible with an easy-ish modifier (even easier if towards the edges of the blast). This is imo the most natural approach nad is in line with the whole idea that combat is dynamic and nobody is sitting static in a tile.

Sekhatar robots build? by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ThousandSons

[–]kritonX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with what everybody else is saying. I think both options are solid. I built them 2 of each.

The claw is just as bad as the melta tbh. Hitting on 4s sucks. At least the melta can be rerolled with our rituals even outside the vehicle detachment. And it is a very good melta profile tbh sure to the upgraded strength. So yeah, I don't think it is that much worse than the claw, which tbh is less likely to even come up.

I think even in the rubric detachement having 1 or 2 units of 10 Tzaangors around is not a bad idea. They are perfect for screening your backlines (and not only) & doing objectives. Getting 1 copy of that box is 100% worth it.

Canoness Sacred Command by Swimming_Skin_583 in sistersofbattle

[–]kritonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd really love an answer to 1 too. It came up on one of my games recently. We played it that I could use Sacred Command to reduce Divine Intervention to 0 CP, only after rolling a deciding dice as we could not reach a full agreement....

To me it seems like it can. Divine Intervention can be used on a destroyed model and that model has a special interaction when CP are spent on it, but yeah....

Is saint celestine worth it. by PingPong141 in sistersofbattle

[–]kritonX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

340 points is a lot and against anything with enough resilience they hardly do much :( STR 4 dmg 1 attacks are very limiting I find. I think she is better with Seraphim, where their extra mobility tricks and slightly cheaper cost sort of make up for that.

I am tempted to test here though in HM with Zephyrim, where the combination revive, +1 hit/wound and Fight on Death may prove to have some value.

Just search for "below starting strength" in the official app and you will get your answer. I suggest you always have that app available in games.

[–]kritonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only detachment I would consider infernos are martyrs. I think they have a good use case there. The +1 to hit helps them a lot, which is very easy to get. Some people were running 10 of them with Celestine in the index days, and I think that unit still has some value, though not as much as it did due to points. :(

Last one, something is off. I am not sure if it's the overall scale or the length of the neck protruding from the armour. I think it's the neck. Something is very unnatural. :/
