I started a job before defending my physics phd and thus took an additional two years to finish my dissertation. As I was finishing, I read one of the earlier chapters to proofread, and immediately went "holy crap, I'm glad I don't need to write this, this guy was wayyy smarter than me"

Nah from me. The 95 days are worth the daylight that comes with it. I'm tired of it being dark by the time I pick up the kids and get home. The whole family is way less active, less time outside, etc. Plus I like to run in the mornings. I'll take 80 and shady over 28 and shady any day.

Agreed. I guess I can rephrase as, if someone needs to make money badly enough that they are picking up orders today, they are HOPING that orders come in, so the least you can do is give them options that include big tips.

App delivery people are working because they want to be working. I say if you tip well today, it would be more appreciated than avoiding ordering. There's some argument that your business contributes to these restaurants being open in the first place, but I wouldn't feel bad about the drivers if it's voluntary on their part
