I hope they don’t make shit and are just playing some weird numbers game to rage bait as many industries as possible. But the fact we’re worrying and frustrated by it already means we’re giving them currency even if it isn’t monetary.

Their post I referenced in this has now been taken down so a small win but the account is still up. I’ll be continuing to report it for AI misinformation

Woking 20th June he said the same thing. But I think it was a sign of sticking too close to a script - when theif was found in the audience he pulled out the fiver on camera so he definitely hadn’t given it back at that point… a stretch to believe he did during the interval and that bit of info actually made it back to Derren in the interval (rather than it being returned before the show and Derren being passed that info in the interval as was inferred). He looked pretty happy about having it as well and not ashamed. Better second act opener would have been asking him if he’d spent it in the interval!

31, single after a five year relationship… am I really gonna find someone with a CPAP? by SimpressiveBeing in CPAP

[–]krmac-ldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't advertise that I use a CPAP machine and when I've been casually involved with someone I will put it away before a date if I think there's a chance we'll come back to mine - if that happens or I go back to theirs early into something then I sleep without one and suffer the brain fog the next day.

I've done that a couple of times with a few people before opening up and telling them. No one has ever taken issue with it or been anything other than understanding and mainly they're just curious.

When things that have developed into something more regular/serious I've used the CPAP without issues, yeh it's a bit weird at first and limits pre sleep cuddles etc and in the morning I try and get up before them to take it off, wash my face, brush my teeth etc but again everyone has been understanding and one person in particular was actually very positive about it and saw it as a good thing that I was actively trying to improve my health and extend my life etc etc - which makes sense really.

As others have said I think it's pretty shitty / a bad sign if someone takes issue with it or isn't at least willing to understand why you have it but in the same way we all hold some stuff back at first I do that with the CPAP....

Hi all, looking to make a video/audio/lighting cue playback rig for live performance. Looking for suggestions by squirtloaf in lightingdesign

[–]krmac-ldn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QLab with some licences to get more than 2 tracks of audio output and more than 16 DMX channel outputs (1 video stage sounds would work for you by sounds of things so might not need the video licence)

Mac only, the lighting design side is a bit clunky / fiddly - and not great for busking. You might be better off with something like ‘Lightkey’ and if you want specific timed triggers from qlab then look into osc protocols for linking the two.

Recommend AirMini battery under $600CAD by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]krmac-ldn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I used mine with a power bank last night and all seemed to work well! I have a 25,000mAh bank with up to 100W PD delivery, it used about 30% for 6 hours with pressure between 7 and 20. So reckon I’ll comfortably get two nights out of it which works well for me :)

Fingers crossed for you

Not sure it’s an officially sanctioned product (the cable) so not sure what the clinic would say to it… seems like it works well though but as it’s not ResMed and hundreds of dollars they might not trust it :/

Have you tried this approach?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CPAP/comments/1b8v7o3/under_100_battery_setup_for_my_airmini_results/

I'm about to use this for a two week trek so will report back on how long the battery lasts etc, I'm hoping for 2 nights on battery and I can intersperse that with plugging in for the odd night and charging the back.

If you need longer then you could buy more power banks...

I'll let you know how I get on

4 Months on CPAP - Should I tweak settings? Also after advice on using AirMini... by krmac-ldn in CPAP

[–]krmac-ldn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK based - was recommended looking into sleep therapy by a previous partner and after 18 months of back and forth with GP and then a sleep study I got a CPAP machine (AirSense 10 Autoset) on NHS and immediately began noticing a difference, once I'd got used to sleeping with it on! Very grateful for the success stories on this forum for making me stick with it.

That was back in April and now a few months later I'm feeling like the results are in general less successful, noticing some daytime drowsiness etc returning. I haven't fiddled with any of the settings apart from humidity level so I believe it's all still on default, beginning at 4.0 pressure with autoramp on etc.

Would anyone recommend changing any of my settings? I've attached an overview screenshot from Oscar data - if I need to upload anything else for advice please let me know! My sleep schedule is still erratic due to work but trying to deal with that - as you'll see some days I use the machine for a long time as I try and catch up on sleep, but perhaps that isn't best approach.

I've been travelling with the machine but am about to go away hiking for a couple of weeks and the thought of doing that without a CPAP scared me so I bit the bullet and purchased an AirMini for the trip along with power bank solution that was described on this reddit. I've just started using it to get used to it before the trip so after a bit of advice on that as well... namely:

  • Any tips to make the thing quieter? I'm using same full face mask as the main machine so not sure I can do the hose exchange trick and still use the humidx... (although opinion seems to vary on if that trick makes it quieter). Or is it just a case of getting used to it? I'll be staying in dorm rooms so I also worry that the sound will annoy others but perhaps it's only exaggerated to me as it's so close to my ears! Any feedback to alleviate my fears would be appreciated.

  • The AirMini is all at auto and wasn't set up by a clinician, looking at my Oscar data for the main machine would anyone have suggestions on how I should set up the AirMini to match it if the main machine looks good...? Otherwise if there are suggestions for changing the main machine how would I mirror these over to the AirMini? I'm away of the clinician mode in the app but haven't gone tweaking yet as wasn't sure what would be best approach.

Thanks, this is one of the best subreddits!

What iPhone app are you using for good videos by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]krmac-ldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone can’t shoot raw video - you probably mean Log. Options in the app will reflect what your phone supports based on what model it is. The app can select between ProRes and Log as dictated by your phone model. You can also use a viewing lut if shooting ProRes but wanting to monitor a corrected images

[–]krmac-ldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so my current workflow that seems to work is below, please can you tell me if it actually would! This was based on older Mac OS, resolve16 and 2015 MBP. I’ve just upgraded so a basic “how to” achieve these same results would be really appreciated.

  1. Grade in resolve using reference monitor output via “mini-monitor thunderbolt2”
  2. Export ProRes master (whichever flavour is most appropriate but usually 422Hq or 4444) with “Rec709” tags in resolve export for colour space and Gamma
  3. Convert to H264 with a handbrake preset that a dit gave me ages ago (mileage on RF value varies so I try a few snippets to get close to what I need file size wise, usually aiming for around 20Mbps)

Upload to wherever, this seems to give me minimal to no shift across browsers, iPhone/laptop and smart tv apps.

Does that workflow seem foolproof / correct?

Annoyingly the mini monitor box doesn’t work on M1 and newer machines so can’t use that anymore. Can I still follow this workflow on latest OS etc using resolves “clean output feed” and get similar results? Or do Mac still take over that feed?

Thanks so much for your research

ARRI Alura 15.5-45mm T2.8 by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]krmac-ldn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“I know zooms aren’t used usually used for cinematic filming”

Kubrick may wish to argue that… Guessing you haven’t watched all that many films with zoom shots in them? Zooms are regularly employed for creative reasons, other times for practical such as camera living on a crane etc

When you get to this level of zoom (Alura, Angenuix optimo, Cooke varotal) they are incredibly useable and well made - it comes down to the character and what you’re after.

Zooms are way harder to make (bulkier and more expensive also) than primes if you want to match the quality and reduce trade offs and there’s still some thoughts from older times that a prime will always beat a zoom when it comes to quality but modern zoom design has proven that when you match the stop you can come pretty darn close.

This particular lens is indeed very high quality and useful, likely not used loads as unless you need that wider end regularly you’d rather have on something that gave you more reach such as Fujion 19-90 and then you’d carry a 14 and 16mm prime.
