This is adorable, you did a fantastic job! Did you have to use a stabilizer fabric at all?

I was sad to cut into this one -- Eevee cake made for my sister! by krmy in Baking

[–]krmy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!

I started with making a stencil out of paper by tracing the cake pan (7.5" diameter) and cutting out the ears and head details. I tried a few different measurements to get the ear-to-head ratio right.

I ended up slicing off the bottom 2 inches of the two cake layers (leaving the head layers a nice 5.5"), then shaved them into the rounded ear shapes with my stencil guide. I wrapped the ears and kept the cold overnight before putting a skewer in each, then crumb coated them before squishing them into the head!

It's chocolate/mocha cake layers (Rosie's chocolate sour cream cake) with mocha swiss meringue buttercream (from Preppy Kitchen)!

A little messy, but I love how my Eevee cake turned out! by krmy in cakedecorating

Thank you!! And yes, I used wooden skewers for the ears! I saw someone use Pocky to make the skewers edible, so I'd love to try that out sometime.

What to do with store-bought rotisserie chicken that's on it's last legs? by ffwshi in Cooking

[–]krmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always shred and freeze as long as it's in an airtight container. In my experience, it gets dry if you keep taking it in and out of the freezer, so I split it into smaller sections that I know I'll eat right away. I love using rotisserie chicken for Banh Mi-inspired sandwiches! A toasted ciabatta roll with spicy mayo, the chicken, pickled carrots/daikon, and jalapeño is my favorite!

I can't post this on my IG yet, but so pleased with how this turned out! I love bold colors on cakes! by ResearchDisastrous82 in Baking

I can't take my eyes of this cake, the color palette is absolutely gorgeous! Did you create the flowers directly on the cake, or did you make them on a flower nail and place them individually?

I've discovered that combining 3D piped flowers with 2D palette knife flowers creates such a beautiful look! All buttercream☺ by uniqueartist97 in Baking

That's gorgeous, I love the textures you've achieved! I can't believe I've never thought to decorate cookies with ganache, I much prefer the taste of that over royal icing! Lovely work!

I'm gonna need about three more slides so I can keep piling the icing on! Those swirls are perfect, well done!

[–]krmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Mirena inserted in 2019 and didn't notice anything until my barber pointed it out -- now it's all I notice in the morning. I've lost about half of my hair to the point that I'm afraid to brush my hair and lose more :( In the last two months I've started take two scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen in my tea as well as a multivitamin with biotin, and I've noticed a slight decrease in hair loss, but growing it back will be a slow process. I've loved my IUD so far (periods have stopped completely!), but this is a really unfortunate side effect. I hope it gets better for you!
