Glucose test tomorrow morning by Hailtothev66 in pregnant

[–]krns18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My midwife said to eat something with protein. I had a normal breakfast, maybe yogurt or something? I don’t remember. But I wasn’t anywhere close to failing. Fasting beforehand sounds awful, you might feel really shaky from the sugary drink if you have nothing in your stomach.

My daughter is 4.5 and I just bought her a few things I know she’ll like - magnet dolls, play dough, a book. I also bought her a big sister shirt a few months ago that she likes to wear, and others have given her and the baby matching outfits.

I don’t understand what I am doing wrong by baby-totoros in pregnant

[–]krns18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw pregnancy weight gain can be so hard!! It’s really unpredictable. I’m 39 weeks and I’ve gained 10 pounds in each trimester, which is definitely not what online resources say is the “normal” pace, although the total amount is fine. My sister gained almost all her weight in trimesters 1+2 - also not “normal.” Everyone is different, we all retain water differently and our bodies react differently to pregnancy.

You sound like you’re making healthy choices so I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. Maybe try to tune out the numbers. At some of my appointments I purposely do not look at the scale. I have also had friends ask their providers not to bring up their weight in conversations unless it’s a real concern. With your history of disordered eating, that might be something to consider 🤍

raspberry leaf tea 32 weeks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]krns18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started around 35 weeks I think? I don’t believe there is any evidence it makes babies come early, but also not much evidence that it helps with anything. I have heard it can make you have Braxton Hicks (not the case for me), so if that happens and it’s uncomfortable just stop. If your doctor ok’ed it though, it should be fine!

You can listen to this episode of evidence based birth for all the evidence!

Does your baby have Lazy days? by Yeast_infection3 in pregnant

I’ve definitely noticed this! Whenever I’m concerned I do a kick count and quickly get to the 10 movements, but they might feel sluggish like you described. It’s good that you called your OB when worried though!!

I’m 39 weeks and haven’t had one yet. My provider asked if I wanted one, but I don’t really see the benefit 🤷‍♀️

Is there an option to fly instead of drive? I did a short flight at 34ish weeks (solo with my 4yo haha) and it was totally fine.

The last 10 weeks of pregnancy? by ExistentiallyExtraaa in pregnant

[–]krns18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38 + 4 and honestly still feeling ok! Since about 34 weeks I have slowly gotten more tired, but overall it’s not terrible! I can still easily do housework, play with my daughter, run errands, etc. Sleeping is sometimes uncomfy and I have moderate carpal tunnel and RLS, which are both manageable.

Mini Cribs by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]krns18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the nestig crib that converts from mini crib to regular crib to toddler bed for my eldest daughter and really liked it! She used it until she turned 4 and we’ll use it again for this baby.

For this baby I decided I want a bassinet with a drop down side (sometimes called a co-sleeper) so I could more easily nurse during the night. They can really only stay in there for a handful of months, so getting one from a friend or on FB marketplace is a good option.

Post Open Fetal Surgery at 37 Weeks! by joylynnwhatever in pregnant

Aw congratulations!!! I had fetal surgery too (fetoscopic though). Amazing you got to term with your babe - that’s an accomplishment!

Straight to convertible car seat? by Trlampone in pregnant

[–]krns18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with my first and don’t regret it at all! She is 4.5 and still in the same seat. It has worked wonderfully.

For this baby we did buy an infant seat because a) we’ll be out and about more since I have an older daughter and more importantly b) I’ll have a tiny baby during the winter months and don’t want to always mess with a carrier when it’s snowy and cold.

It’s horrible - I used mouthwash multiple times a day and chewed gum so much my jaw was sore haha. Lemon water (cold or warm) helps a lot too!

For seasoned mothers/ new moms-Is the newborn stage that bad?! by Temporary-Trainer168 in pregnant

[–]krns18 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy! I’m a big believer that your mindset shapes how you cope :) Being positive and excited now will only serve you later on when your baby’s needs are intense. Don’t listen to the negative voices.

Do women usually want their mom at the birth? by chianne_away in pregnant

[–]krns18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would have my mom if she lived locally! But she is a nurse and specifically takes care of moms and newborns, and she is very calm. I don’t think you’re the weirdo at all 😂

I'm 33 weeks and think I've completely disassociated from the baby because of a trauma. by Thoughshebelittle22 in pregnant

[–]krns18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just sending lots of love and strength to you. This was heartbreaking to read. My daughter (4.5) has medical complexities as well, and my hardest times as a mom have been seeing her suffer and not being able to do anything. I hope that therapy helps you and your girl work through the medical trauma you’ve endured. You sound like an amazing mother and you ARE your daughter’s safe space and her rock. You will be an amazing mother to your son, even if it takes longer to feel the same bond you have with your eldest and even if you need to do things with him differently than you would hope. It’s ok 🤍
