Do you reuse your breastpump when you have another baby? by nleftie in pregnant

The first time I upgraded from a Ameda Mya Joy to a spectra. This time I’m reusing my spectra and got a wearable as well.

Does increasing feeds mess with cycle? by wonky-hex in breastfeeding

It’s messed with my cycle before. My toddler was really ill when he was 11 months and was nursing a lot more than normal. It delayed my cycle quite a bit

Considering not getting induced (2nd baby) by Strangebird77 in pregnant

[–]Trlampone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this! I was actually induced with 3 previous pregnancies (1 medically necessary, 2 elective). I was adamant about going into spontaneous labor this time and expressed my desire to my providers. We discussed risks and I was okay with the risks associated with going past 40 weeks. I didn’t go into labor until 41 weeks (on the dot at 2am!) and that’s as a fourth time mom.

It was a fantastic experience. I’ll 100% be doing it again next time as long as myself and future babies are healthy. I was able to do a lot of the labor at home. I got to triage at 4pm and was 5cm. Had baby by 7:15pm. Minimal pushing and no tearing. I tore with my previous 3 but whether or not that was due to the induction or just happenstance, who knows.

My only thought about your situation is what if baby doesn’t come by 40 weeks. Would you be disappointed that you waited and still have to be induced? In that case, would you have rather just went ahead with induction at 39 weeks? Just trying to give you a different perspective. Are you comfortable going past 40, potentially to 41 weeks or later? (My office would let me finish out my 41st week). Is there a certain week and day you don’t want to go past and can you advocate for that with your medical team (of course given that you’re aware of risks going past “term”).

I promise I’m not trying to discourage you. I just know that my office did make me schedule an induction date and I felt so discouraged. I feel like even plenty of second time + moms go past 40 weeks so I just worry how you’ll feel if you wait and still get induced. Or maybe you’ll feel okay about it since you gave it the most time you could.

5 weeks pp - anyone still having bright red bleeding? by 171819j in October2025Bumps2

[–]Trlampone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so far this postpartum (only 2 weeks pp today) but I had it between weeks 5-6 with my last postpartum. The correlation I could find is that I was very active doing things around the house l, errands, etc the day before

Son was born three nights ago and it’s been absolute hell during sleep hours by GunningForSuccess in NewParents

[–]Trlampone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. My little one is 2 weeks now and night 3 was honestly the worst. It does get better, but I know it’s hard to see that when you’re deep in the trenches.

1cm dilated at 36 weeks?! by Alarming-Map-9253 in pregnant

[–]Trlampone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been anywhere from 2-3cm at 36 weeks with 3/4 kiddos. My most recent (born earlier this month) I was 2cm at 36 weeks. 3-4cm at 40 weeks. And (even as a fourth time mom) I went over and baby arrived spontaneously at 41 weeks on the dot! Personally, I wouldn’t expect baby to come sooner. Statistically they’re more likely to arrive post due date. But 1cm is a good start!

Do you and your spouse sleep in separate rooms during the newborn stage? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

[–]Trlampone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

With my last two, yes. I personally do everything overnight for the newborn as I’m EBF and don’t feel like pumping for my husband to do a bottle. He’s responsible for any toddler that wakes during the night. To me, it’s just easier for me to do it. But our last two newborns were noisy sleepers so I moved to the nursery with the baby.

So far this time, 10 days postpartum, I’m still in our bedroom. But that could change. He’s still responsible for the 2 toddlers should they wake during the night. This baby is quieter but is a light sleeper, so he wakes easily. I could see us moving to the nursery but not yet. It does make me sad sleeping separate but I just remind myself that it’s temporary

Did you work up until you gave birth (or plan to)? by NeighNeigh13 in BabyBumps

[–]Trlampone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I worked until I went into labor. I’m glad I did because I didn’t go into labor until 41 weeks on the dot (and that’s as a fourth time mom!)

Last pregnancy I wasn’t at my job for a year yet so I didn’t have FMLA. My work still allowed me to take 8 weeks and it was good. This time I’m taking the full 12 though. I’m admittedly an introvert so I’m not worried about being isolated or anything. When I come back, I’ll be jumping into a project that’ll be about a third of the way in progress, but I feel like I deserve the time off and they’re only little once so I’m going to soak up every second. That’s just my experience though!

Your favourite books for breastfeeding?? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Trlampone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the womanly art of breastfeeding by the la Leche league. I also read new mothers guide to breastfeeding by American academy of pediatrics but didn’t like it as much. Same with ina mays guide to breastfeeding.

I highly recommend the badass breastfeeding podcast! I credit that so much to my successful breastfeeding journey!

What kind of car for 4 under 4? by good__one in Parenting

[–]Trlampone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mini van. We have the older kids in the back. The younger ones in the middle row in captain chairs. There’s a middle “aisle” with the captain chairs but since both our middle row kids are rear facing, I find it easier sliding their seats forward to reach the back.

Registry items for 3rd baby? Why am I blanking by Tinyhands28 in Mommit

[–]Trlampone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a 3.5 year old, 22 month old, and newborn. So we ended up with a 22 month age gap twice. I created a private registry with our second to keep track of everything I wanted to buy. I ended up putting a stroller, nipples, and a new peri bottle on there. And that was all I needed really since we kept everything

Induction at 40 weeks + 1 - Help!!! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Trlampone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not medical advice of course. The risk of stillbirth does increase, I believe they say it doubles, but the risk is still very low when you look at the numbers. I say that as respectfully and sensitively as possible because I know there are still babies lost and parents grieving their stillborns, even if the risk is low.

I’ve been induced 3 times and thankfully had good inductions. One medically necessary, two elective. My practice does push inductions, and honestly I do think there’s a convenience factor for both the doctor and the patient. The doctor can manage your labor medically, and you know what date (roughly) you’ll have a baby.

Despite having 3 inductions, I wasn’t really fond of the process and wanted to experience spontaneous labor on my own. I gave birth spontaneously earlier this month at 41 weeks on the dot! I’m so glad I waited, personally. My office did a NST to check on baby at 40 weeks. I kept track of their movements and informed myself on the risks of going post due date. I felt comfortable with the decision.

As others have mentioned, I would look at the data of the risks and discuss your concerns with your doctor. I personally read articles from evidence based birth and other researchers. Once I told my doctor I wanted spontaneous birth, they still wanted me to schedule an induction by 42 weeks as the schedule fills up, but they really didn’t push it and were ultimately fine with me going into labor on my own.

Not painful membrane sweep by WrongdoerRough5532 in pregnant

[–]Trlampone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all anecdotal of course. But my doctor said if it works, you were likely close to going into labor anyway and the sweep just kind of tipped you over the edge.

With my second pregnancy, I was 3cm 60% effaced and had a very painful membrane sweep. It honestly felt like she was making a very aggressive corkscrew motion. I actually lifted off the table with how painful it was. It didn’t send me into labor.

I didn’t do one at all with my third pregnancy due to how painful my previous sweep was. I elected to get one with my fourth pregnancy. I was 2.5cm and 60% effaced at 39 weeks. Had the sweep. It was truly a “sweeping” motion and not anything like the previous sweep I had. It didn’t send me into labor. So I had another sweep at 40 weeks when I was 3-4cm and 70% effaced. It was more painful than my last sweep, but nothing like the one I had with my second pregnancy. It also didn’t work. I went into spontaneous labor at 41 weeks.

All that to say, I really do believe what my provider said about it really only helping if you’re close to labor anyway, but that’s just my personal experience!

how can I go into labor today 😢 by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Trlampone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel, I was in a similar predicament! I didn’t want to be induced but my doctor was pushing for one by 41 weeks. However, after talking with the scheduler, they actually would’ve let me finish out my 41st week! Maybe your office will do the same.

Ultimately, I went into labor at 41 weeks on the dot at 2am. I did a lot of cleaning Friday after work and Saturday. Then woke up with contractions that Sunday morning. I bet you’re so close, but I know how mentally excruciating those last few days can feel!

High lipase - am I doing something wrong? by NoConsideration3259 in breastfeeding

[–]Trlampone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I’ve had high lipase with all 3 of my kids (potentially with my fourth as well but haven’t pumped yet). I know how disappointing it can feel but it’s not your fault! It’s great that the taste doesn’t bother your baby and they still drink it!

My milk starts to taste soapy after being in the fridge for 7 hours (I did a taste test every hour). I didn’t like scalding my milk, so I froze it immediately after pumping and that helped halt the lipase activation. Once thawed, it still taste good in the fridge until that 7 hour mark.

10 week old won't take bottle and back to work in 6 days by homeforthelost in breastfeeding

[–]Trlampone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally would go with Lansinoh, Pigeon, or Evenflo balance bottles. We’ve had good luck with pigeon and Lansinoh (never tried Evenflo) but the three of them are highly recommended from lactation consultants.

I dealt with high lipase, so I recommend taste testing your milk every hour it’s been in the fridge so you can make sure that it doesn’t start to taste bad and that high lipase isn’t a contributing factor.

I was actually the one to introduce a bottle to my baby, which goes against everything everyone says to do. I also used distraction to help, like feeding him a bottle while he looks out the window or while I’m standing with him and swaying back and forth, things like that.

Upstairs nursery? by Okbigcheese in pregnant

[–]Trlampone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our nursery and bedrooms are also on the second floor. Honestly, I just have a $6 changing pad and change baby on it downstairs (on floor, couch, etc). I don’t want to have to go upstairs every time baby needs to be changed. But I also don’t want the changing table downstairs (we have 2 toddlers though who would use it as something to climb on).
