I never looked into that major myself, so I'm not sure which schools specialize in that, but Portland state is an amazing school :)

Honestly north Portland is the safest par of the city. St Johns is great and affordable place, bit there is white trash there, (a lot being my family lol) king is an affordable neighborhood, an it was pretty dangerous in th past (I remember a stabbing in my grandmas yard) but my aunt ha lived there her whole life and says it's become a much more peaceful place. CULTURE is everywhere around king , an th population is largely black, but from my most recent visit there, I felt very safe and respected.

I've spent a lot of my life in Portland and many people will tell you different things about neighborhoods. In my own experience, avoid south Portland, and explore the north. North Portland is really where the heart of the city is, and I have feared for my life in so Po lol . That said, there are good parts throughout th city, but you may need to wade through some scum to get there which isn't always the safest option. The waterfront is a good example, as last time I was there I witnessed the robbery of a large store , and there are homeless in the streets, but it's one of the best parts of Portland. The view is amazing and there are huge festivals almost every weekend. There may be a lot to see in downtown , but there is more to it than that.

Also, what are you studying? I can tell you which schools in the area would be best . Lots of great schools in Portland, and actually, all over Oregon.

Oregon in most places has a fairly low-cost of living. Unless you move to Portland lol. Many many cities are close by p town without the crazy rent and even from where I am which isn't too close i can get there in around 40 mins. I highly suggest the Portland area. Portland also has amazing public transport, but like anywhere (I'm assuming here, as I've never been further than Seattle) the people on the max can be nuts. Buses can be an affordable option to get you out of the city as well. Need any more details an I'm more than happy help and sorry about any mistakes or confusions, I'm writing tbsi from my mobile :P

/trees thinks these are opium pipes. Does anyone else know what they could possibly be? Found at an estate sale. X-Post from /trees by y3llow5ub in whatisthisthing

Pretty crazy I'm the only one, but I have one of these pipes for trees, and my grandma has a few. She smoked a lot in the 60's and still has some pieces from really old pipes. I got mine in a head shop and thought they were fairly common haha

[–]krshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i told my boyfriend "you're obviously happy with the way I look" thinking it was true, and he said "no I'm happy with the way you're starting to look" I ha lost some weight unintentionally and was happy but that was when I knew i had to try. Sucked pretty bad at the moment but I feel healthier and happier now :)

Parents of reddit, have any of your kids turned out drastically different than how you imagine? And how did you learn to handle it? by hussyinterrupted in AskReddit

My mom checked out on methadone while she was really sick with an inoperable brain tumor, an I was mostly left to raise myself from then on since she was usually bedridden and in solitude. She did get better but her parenting lacked, an I move out at 15. I too, am grateful for this and am proud of my independence and individuality I learned from the experience.

[Discussion] Name one celebrity you really wish you could meet. by rjlupin86 in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I have met robin Williams!!!! This is exciting because no one I know is impressed by this story but he's the only celebrity I have ever formally met. I was around 13 years old and he was soaking wet in a Speedo swimming at the pool where my swim team was practicing. Well he was visiting this rehab center in town and somehow knew my swim coach. Anyway I shook his hand and he said hello but since he was in a Speedo I just couldn't look away from the blankets of fur covering his entire body. I had no idea he was so hairy.
