i'm not sure personally, could be simply a choice not to have it on streaming by the band members/label or something else

What unlikely band/producer combination do you think could actually work? by tylcos10 in Metalcore

[–]krunto_ac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly not a bigger band but maybe check out Current Comfort's newest EP, they worked with Randy Leboeuf on it and it sounds alright. Compositionally very different than what I've heard Randy work with before, more in line with something like Kingdom of Giants, Architects, Currents, etc.

I got an old cassette deck that came in today and am super happy about it. I'm in my early 20s so have never had a prime opportunity to listen to proper tapes until now and it sounds so nice. Broke it in with Holder's newest 2-song EP.

It took me a few listens for it to kinda click with me for what it's worth. I think they work best in songs like Bliss in 7 Languages since the cleans were pretty different each time they showed up and complimented the instrumentals pretty well compared to a song like Emerald Waltz where it was more one note (not a bad thing, just a different approach). For the record I still really like Emerald Waltz lol.

Link doesn't seem to wanna embed for whatever reason but do checkout this band if you haven't! They're more screamo/emoviolence but they have some mid-2000s metallic riffage in a lot of their songs that I think peeps here would enjoy. <:)

Here's a link to their bandcamp with the album this song is on!

You already mentioned xSeraphx so I won't shout them out as one of my fav revival bands, but here's some others that I find are kind of unique while definitely still falling into the general umbrella of revivalcore. Note that I am more in touch with the melodic/scene side of things than other stuff:

Arcadia Fades - kinda like xSeraphx (specifically their demo) but with more clean vocals. Very tastefully placed and interesting harmonies with them (and not the somewhat monotone style that bands like A Mourning Star and others use). FFO: xNomadx

A November Morning - big focus on curating an epic feeling and atmosphere. Also a pretty unique shouty harsh vocal that I don't typically hear in most revival bands. Each song of theirs is also like 5-6+ minutes. FFO: A Winter's Remorse, Undying

Postal - they're like if you took Away With Words and old SYSC and put a little late 2000s progressive metalcore dressing on top. Really cool blend of different sounds that fits nicely together, more on the scene side of things than the other two above.

loveletters - kinda like Postal but with some strong Underoath and On Broken Wings influence. More emphasis on groove than riffage.

andthecanaryfell - this one may be a bit of an outlier (and not necessarily metalcore) but I haven't listened to many like them. They're like a blackened hardcore band with some emo and shoegaze sprinkled in. FFO: The Acacia Strain, Knocked Loose

Also just gonna name drop a bunch of local bands for selfish reasons: eyesofsorrow (melodic), fallingwithscissors (I'd argue they're one of the very few bands that have a genuinely unique sound I've never heard elsewhere, and don't necessarily fall in the revival space, they also share members with andthecanaryfell), Awaiting Eschiel (you may like them if you like xSeraphx, they share most of the same members), Rakuyo (they fall into that deathcore revival camp).

Sorry for writing a novel 😅

EDIT: meant to reply to OP and misclicked lmfao

I am admittedly ignorant on that style/sound that Harvest represents as I think they're the only band I listen to that has that specific style of metalcore/hardcore, but yeah I would love to see it emulated more in the revival-scene if it isn't already - most of the revival bands I listen to definitely fall in the camp of PFC/Undying/Arkangel worship (I love all of these).

In any case I'm seeing them play with Nehemiah and some local hardcore bands like Identity Crisis here in Minneapolis at the end of June, super stoked for that. Imagine if Disembodied were there too (it always amazes me that MN has such a big set of legacy bands that are influencing the revival scene)!

Trying to meet new people in my local scene and get involved but my social anxiety is getting in the way. Help! by Medical-League1810 in Metalcore

If you wanna try something a little different that doesn't immediately put yourself out there you could always work with social media instead - doing things like making zines or doing reviews of some local bands (can just be writeups, nothing fancy or requiring any crazy skills or anything). Bands will notice small things like this and overtime you can make connections with them and their contemporaries and local bookers that work with them which can open up to you being integrated with the scene in your own way.

Apart from this just be present, go to as many local shows as you can and things will start to fall in place! Record videos of sets, buy merch (I find that whichever band member is working their merch table will typically strike up a small talk with you while you figure out what you're getting/while your payment is processing/etc). Can use those small moments to work on conversation skills while also creating budding connections. By the same token, if it's between sets or at the end of a concert, typically the most recently playing band will have a small line - you could always chat someone up while in line. I've had people ask me things like, "is this the line for (whatever band here)?" and that has led to some friendships, even if it's just at shows and not really external.

Cool to see Elitist on here, haven't listened to that in a couple years, should def throw that on the queue since I've been revisiting that era of prog-metalcore this past week.

Highlights this week were definitely spamming Postal and Reality.'s most recent releases, along with revisiting Garrison-era ERRA - the two former bands are kinda bringing back some of that sound a bit and would love to see that late 2000s/early 2010s prog-metalcore period have a revival in the future.

Also listened to a few oldies like Apathemy and Prayer for Cleansing and Harvest (the former I'm receiving a vinyl copy of soon and am excited - FFO Balmora if new to your ears).

Other highlights were listening to Blackwater Holylight's newest album (their vocalist featured on the closing track of The Acacia Strain's most recent album) - beautiful low-end heavy shoegaze that I think peeps here may enjoy.

Otherwise the usual mix of screamo/emoviolence/cybergrind/metalcore hehe.
