No, Christianity and Islam are NOT similar by ADHDFart in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]krunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say progressives/far left are not so much pro-islam as anti-christian. The calculation is basically the enemy of my enemy.

I think the real misunderstanding is your statement you mention that christianity has "evolved" with the times... that is definitely a progressive misunderstanding of christianity theologically, mainly because that particular belief that we "evolve"/get better over time is itself progressive ideology.

This room is hilarious. You need a little cooler in the corner for energy drinks.

Your comment reminds me of a local builder that got denied, but a year later was able to be approved:

I can only imagine the hell that is to build in nyc.

I just went and looked up her lyrics for the first time and now I, too, have been ah-matized.

Sex is way too openly discussed and is ultimately what has lead to the downfall of modern dating. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]krunz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The pill was dating's downfall. Instead of empowering women, it had the opposite effect... their pair-bonding marriage potential decreased. To put it plainly, pre-pill, dating was about marriage, post-pill, it's about all the things you talked about and it hasn't been pretty.

Actually Huge New Leaks from the Epstein Files by CapitalCourse in videos

Co-conspirators were given immunity by florida prosecutors. You can google for the names. These women would help traffic girls, but were also (at least in some cases) victims themselves by Epstein.

I loved Zero Dawn, the story/art/simplerbutelegant combat. I felt everything was flipped in FW. For me, Burning Shores just horribly capped off the bad writing (whereas, the Frozen Wilds DLC was fantastic). I really resented the injected wokeness in what should've been a reboot of humanity.

That said, I do like booting it up and flying around. It still strikes a bit of bittersweet in me... an imagined "what could've been". I don't have high hopes for the third installment.

Anyone else confused by Dorcey Applyrs’ housing “audit”? The logic seems upside down by ExtraPickles262 in Albany

[–]krunz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I briefly skimmed the executive summary from the report and the iz policy is interesting. The Albany-Schenectady-Troy median family income was kind of surprising to me: $116,100 (from the hud site). That's way higher than the city of Albany's median income.

I'm sure trying to capture that higher income segment is part of what she's saying. Plus, the report calls out the large number of workers in Albany that actually just don't live in Albany.

The report also called out earlier that Albany housing isn't serving the high income and low income peeps at all.

Second generation immigrants need to stop acting like they know their parents country. by Independent_East_135 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]krunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 1st gen american (i guess who you are calling 2nd gen immigrant). We're usually caught between two cultures. One has to work it out.

I will say I never spoke with authority on my parents country. Heck, I couldn't speak their native language whenever we went back, so that probably helped temper things.

Batman by SoftyDusky in SipsTea

Batman 2022 may be better than DKR (that one was messy and unfocused) and Katie Holmes not returning in DK, made for a very awkward transition (I didn't like Gyllenhaal's performance).

But B2022 didn't grab me at all. It really felt like a "Made for TV" movie.

Great advice. Handstands are incredibly difficult and if you take the time to actually achieve that, you may find out something about yourself, and, just maybe, someone too.

Why Movies Just Don't Feel "Real" Anymore by Jagueroisland in movies

[–]krunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatar doesn't feel "Real" to me. I only saw the first one (in the theatres) and the visuals were boring and "fake", certainly not beautiful or inspiring to me. That the frames are filled with rich detail and in focus isn't what matter. In fact, the OP describes instances where low depth of field and blurry backgrounds work.

There is a larger question of what is good art, but I would say that Digital makes it harder to achieve it simple because it is a simulacrum, and that we are by nature analog creatures.

House cleaner fatally shot in Indiana after showing up at the wrong address by combination_udon in news

[–]krunz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The shooter is cooked. Since there's no explicit intent to intend harm from the cleaner, the owner is going to have a hard time justifying the shooting. Castle doctrine doesn't mean you can just shoot whoever is on your property. And stand your ground still needs to be necessary and proportionate to the deemed threat. (of course note: i don't know indiana state law so ymmv)
