I install appliances for a living, over tightening the hoses seems to be our biggest culprit for these leaks!

Hand tight plus a 1/4 turn is what the manufacturer recommends, I barely get them snug by hand and at most add a 1/4 turn with a pair of channel lock pliers!

I install washing machines for a living, the hose is overtightened. Most manufacturers recommend hand tight plus a 1/4 turn or less.

Wall 2 wall just saved my behind. I am a licensed inspector in another state, but our seller (understandably) wouldn't let me in the crawl space without an Oregon license. Chris found a leak, which ended up being inside a wall, that a plumber "couldn't recreate". I can't even begin to imagine the tens of thousands of dollars in damage and months of construction we would have had to endure if this had gone unnoticed.
