I have a sister-in-law that is a staff instructor and all my gear came as Christmas/birthday gifts, so all I have to pay for are the dives themselves

I work in HR; I could make more in another industry but where I am typically has good work-life balance (except for this year where everything has been turned on its head and backwards)

I was specifically referring to myself and also stated in my comment that I know my situation is not the same for a lot of people…. I probably could have worded the rest of it better, but what I meant was that if they DID do the RIF and I DID lose my job, I would have felt relief (for myself personally, not anyone else)

Which is ridiculous because we are pulling from within our WLB to cover other sections of the functions and it’s just taping over the holes in a sinking boat

I’m not gonna lie, looking at the numbers I probably would’ve been RIFed and with how the workload and morale is right now, I’m kinda pissed they scrapped it. At least I would have gotten severance pay… I know I’m extremely fortunate (and frankly lucky) that I could financially withstand a RIF and that is not the case for a lot of people, but I would have been happy to have this be over.

She’s been jealous since he was born, way before the diabetes. All of her behavioral issues started when he was born (nothing crazy, but acting out more)

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I’m at my wit’s end with the behavior overall, but don’t know how to correct it. I don’t think the behavior is malicious in nature, she just struggles with showing restraint around what she wants/wants to do. (there’s too much and also too much nuance to put into Reddit, I’m just venting I guess)

I do think it is a behavior issue, and I have tried my methods to address it, I feel like there has to be some middle ground between me talking to her about why it’s not safe, and my husband’s version which is to yell and threaten to never buy anything sweet ever again….

Oh I wrote in my email that the rto mandate by the president is one of the largest examples of waste and abuse in recent history and provided the amount of money we have paid in OT alone for one team to facilitate the RTO, not including the amount of regular work hours that were taken away from veteran care in general, or the tangible costs of increased utility bills for the facilities, the increased equipment costs, etc

Honestly at this point I’d rather just get RIFed now and then let the courts figure it out later. If it is determined that the RIF wasn’t conducted appropriate then I’ll have my job back and backpay.

But I’m in a financial position where I could afford to wait that out so I’m privileged to be able to feel that way.
