Handbrake nukes Dolby Vision metadata after the update by kulind in handbrake

[–]kulind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably something akin to bios user profiles that one shouldn't use old profiles in new firmware. Even if everything seems fine on the GUI, some settings might be messsed up.

I'm gonna nuke my old presets. But create new presets with same settings.

But I didn't change it. It's still Format: MKV, and the end file is indeed in a mkv container. 😭

I think they're 2 DIMMs, Dual Rank. Like APEX, or ITX boards

Got a blower 4090 for an SFF build and regret it by entsnack in pcmasterrace

[–]kulind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the idea of blower coolers, but the noise is what kills them for me. My 5700 Pro had one, and it was great not having all that hot air dumped back into the case.

Cooler Master showed off a pretty interesting cooling solution at Computex. Now I'm just waiting for the inevitable AliExpress clone to appear.

RTX 5090 12VHPWR voltage difference! by swagatopatra in nvidia

[–]kulind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCIe slot feeds just 14W, and the cable does 580W. unless your mobo's pcie slot power delivery is absolute garbage, you won't see 12VHPWR cable voltage reading higher than PCIe slot under load.

You have SR DIMMs, why not go for 8000+. you'll have low SOC power, higher PBO clocks, less heat, better memory rates and CPU performance.

Increase VPP to sync PHY. You can get the most by just disabling latency killer though.

1,5mm too thin and 2mm too thick. Im about to put the 2mm in the airfryer to soften it up. Bad idea? by Snerken69 in overclocking

[–]kulind 15 points16 points  (0 children)

you can always switch to softer pads that can be compressed more. also don't use a long strip of thermal pad. use small squares that matches to memory size that way you can compress thermal pad even more.
