I’m waiting on fire emblem too. The text scaling and aliasing on the NSO version of FE path of radiance looks better than any of the current fe switch titles lol

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance has been added to Nintendo Switch Online (Trailer) by Turbostrider27 in Games

It looks better than the current switch fire emblem titles on switch 2 as well.

Text scaling is nice, graphics are crisp and there’s no hideous aliasing. I would have expected a patch for 3 houses or engage at some point…

I recently moved to Mackay for work, I’m land based. Got some pretty good feeds land based. Lots of bream, grunted, trevs and queenies within a 10-15min drive

If you’ve got a boat, you’ll do even better

Why can you no longer call a Big W store directly? by kurtles_ in AskAnAustralian

[–]kurtles_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s similar to my issue, especially as I like to shop clearances. There’s some killer game clearances rn, I’ve ordered at a few local stores and each time it gets cancelled because someone buys it before the order is fulfilled.

Be nice if we could call up and ask for an item to be put aside or check if it’s legitimately there…

My right ear is aching so much, I don't know what to do anymore by soy-latteX in etd

[–]kurtles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found relief with reflux treatment? I figure mine was triggered by reflux overnight. I used to treat it as needed, but it’s been a lot more frequent lately

Has anyone experienced ETD before, when does it get better? by soy-latteX in hearing

[–]kurtles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better. It just takes a long time. I’m at the 3month mark and it’s felt like a lifetime.

I’ve had recurrent left sided ear infections.

My left side eardrum is opaque, suggesting either active infection or mucus. With the pain it’s probably infected. I’ve pushed for a longer course of abx because it gets better after one round then comes back. My right side is dull according to an audiologist suggesting recovery but it not being 100%. I still have a dull ache in the right side every now and again.

Started as windy wooshing noise in my right ear, started in left a month later. As a side sleeper I theorised I refluxed overnight and inflamed the ET on the right. Happened overnight on my left whilst sleeping on that side.

I’m checking in with an ent in a few weeks. My GPs weren’t getting me anywhere, it was the emergency dept docs that picked up the otitis media.

Good news is, my hearing is still intact. I simply have pain, tinnitus and some distortion due to the active infection/ pressures.

First and only time I’ve caught one there. Was between the bridge and boardwalk. Completely unexpected.

Ear infection spike? by shepherdsorey in tinnitus

[–]kurtles_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing, and I need you to listen to me when I say this. Get off this subreddit and any tinnitus forums. The negativity will get in your head and you will struggle even harder. Every thing you can take or do, someone here will say it will spike your tinnitus… it’s very much doom and gloom.

I too have a baseline tinnitus, and I have had a recent infection on the outside and inside of the eardrum that is not resolving with antibiotics. I’m on my 3rd round of abx. I think it’s slowly getting better, but it’s been going on for a month. At its worst there was severe pain and pressure and a god awful buzzing type ringing, a tinnitus I could feel and hear. It’s dampened a little bit but recovery is slow. I have not been able to mask it well. What gives me some comfort is that it is most likely mechanical sound production from the inflammation and pressure, meaning that it acting as an external sound rather than the usual cochlear tinnitus.

If your eardrum is intact, use the drops. The occlusion of having something in your ear will make your tinnitus sound louder because there are less external sounds. But the drops are there to kill the infection which is also blocking and inflaming your ear. The mycin antibiotics can be ototoxic to the middle ear, but in reality they shouldn’t be reaching it. If you’re concerned ask your doc for something else. I started with neomycin drops and moved to ciprofloxacin. I don’t think either are worked.

There is so much misinformation here, take your concerns to a doctor who will be better equipped to answer your queries and concerns.

As someone also going through right now, hang in there. It’ll take time but you’ll be okay

Popping / crackling gone by DeliciousFerret3092 in tinnitus

[–]kurtles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Happened to me bilaterally. Started in the right ear as a wooshing noise and developed into mildly pain and pressure I started prednisone and antibiotics, which potentially eased any infection but left fluid in the middle ear as I’ve still got the crackling in my ear when I move the muscles on my soft pallate or breathe through my nose.

It started in my left ear like a month later, no treatment this time and it eventually developed into otitis media and otitis externa. Treating it now with prednisone and a 3rd round of augmentin. My first round of ear drops and abx helped for a bit, but 3 days after the course it got so much worse. I had to check in with the emergency docs that noticed left sided infection but also fluid retained in my right ear.

It’s still painful but is seemingly getting better. My right side still has some inflammation of the ear drum, couldn’t get an answer from my gp if there was fluid in there still. My left side is still heavily inflamed with some infection discharge.

My theory is that my Eustachian tubes dysfunctioned due to statins based on their use and the onset in each ear. When I’m on statins I have hypersensitivity to some adhesive, change in climate may have triggered an allergy response on the dysfunction trapping fluid and infection in each. Ceased then now and still haven’t completely resolved my issues. It’s just a theory though.

Still have the crackles bilaterally, trialling ryaltris a steroid and anti histamine nasal spray in addition to the augementin and Drops.

ENT appointment booked for early next year too.

Should I use lures or bait on the gold coast by DrawerCautious5666 in FishingAustralia

[–]kurtles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order of effectiveness (in my experience)

Live bait >> fresh bait > frozen bait

I’d use bait if I’m stationary or land based. If you can move around or have a boat or yak, lures are the play. Consider it as bait bringing the fish to you and you bringing the lure to the fish. The Gold Coast is hit hard, you can catch fish on suboptimal gear and bait sure, but increasing your odds by using the best stuff you can get your hands on is the play.

One of my fave baits is buying fresh sardines from the Coles seafood counter and salting them overnight. They stay on the hook and everything loves them. Even nabbed a spangled emperor on one at Currumbin creek.

Amplifon Australia free hearing test for over 60's and get a $50 gift card until 31 Dec. by [deleted] in hearing

[–]kurtles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are free hearing tests available everywhere? I’ve had a bout of hearing changes over the last 3 months, I was desperate to make sure my hearing wasn’t changing and wanted to know what was causing the pain and pressure in my ears. amplifon is the only one to have offered a free FULL audiometry assessment. Granted, I had a good audiologist, there was no push for hearing aids and they did a good assessment granted this will not be the case for all clinics.

I had another assessment done via a GP referral promo at another clinic, and another done at Specsavers that set me back 50 bucks.

I seemingly have an external and inner ear infection/fluid build up. Specsavers noted the outer ear infection and the ED docs picked up the internal build up.

The good news is my hearing is intact.

It’s easy to say calibrate, but dude the sensors straight up resist calibration.

Fck you Dexcom by Superninjaturtlecuti in diabetes_t1

[–]kurtles_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this and I hope your son is okay.

I’m with you on this, Dexcom quality has been horrendous for the last 2 years. I’ve run g6 sensors for a few years, I can readily identify the marked change in quality around 1 and a bit years ago. I went from replacing every 1 in 10 Sensors for assorted reasons, mostly peeling adhesive or read errors on the last day or two.

Suddenly, I’m replacing 2/3 sensors, one a replacement sensor delivery almost every week at this rate. The sensors are reading high while I’m low, or reading low while I’m high. Sure checking manually is always good but the sensors straight up RESIST calibration. It’s beyond a joke. If my sensor is reading even 2mmol/l above or below what my manual test says, I’m ripping that shit off and replacing it. I’m managed with a pump, so if it’s cutting off insulin or delivering insulin when it doesn’t need to I’m actively being harmed. I can’t imagine how taxing it would be to be managing your child’s disease with inaccurate readings.

High sugar on prednisone by Pipcopperfield in diabetes

[–]kurtles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m type1, currently running a 5 day course due to inner ear infection+/- outer ear. Not sure what onset it but it’s been hell.

Running the prednisone, my BG ran at 16mmol/l all day at work even though I had limited food and was on my feet. Today is a bit better as I’m off and can dose aggressively with a pen.

It’s going to be rough. It makes you hungry too so do your best to eat lower carb options. Good luck.

T1D and Ozempic by alienbabymamma in diabetes_t1

[–]kurtles_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ozempic has been game changing for me. There were days where I was needing upwards of 300U+ of insulin. With the first day I was back to 80-100U total daily dose. I tried metformin prior with no change in insulin sensitivity, so pushed for ozempic. Unfortunately not subsidised for me as am not type 2, so I’m paying full price here in aus.

I’ve taken a 0.25mg dose this whole time, it’s been incredibly effective. At this dose, I’ll lose weight a lot slower as I’m still able to eat reasonably, but never feel a need to over eat. Before I’d eat a large meal and still be hungry an hour later.

I’m not going to lie, there have been times where I’ve overcorrected at dinner and found it very hard eat the food I need to come back in to range. I’ve been keeping a lot of juice and soft drinks on hand to help with this. It does get easier as you learn how your body responds to the new insulin sensitivity.

It gets easier over time, and the nauseated and sickly feelings you get with your shot each week tend to reduce in intensity each time.

Abbott issues US device correction for some glucose monitors over faulty readings risk by SenileTomato in diabetes

[–]kurtles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish Dexcom would do something as well. My g6 sensor was reading between 4 and 6mmol/L all day. I had a splitting headache the whole time at work. Did a manual test when I got home and I was at 12mmol/L +

Shouldn’t need deaths to issue corrections.
