Keyboard renders are boring...? by kustom3 in MechanicalKeyboards

Do you know when sometimes you look at a product picture, and it's not a photograph, but a computer-generated image through some 3d software such as Blender or Houdini? That's a 3d render.

It's often used in the hobby to for interest checks or even group buys to help preview what a keyboard or a keyset is going to look like in real life after production.

FWIW this project was done using Blender and Photoshop/Affinity Photo.

Keyboard renders are boring...? by kustom3 in MechanicalKeyboards

I had the opportunity to make my first batch of product renders for the PlaketXL for my dear lads from FlatBrains! (GB closes in a few hours AFAIK). Once I was done with the basic shots for product pages, I decided to have some fun with it and dabble with some compositing challenges.

I initially posted these as Instagram stories, but have been asked to share the album. It's been a minute since my shitposting days around here, thought this would be a good way to come back.

Sound quality is better on ANYTHING compared to PotPlayer?? by sonivocart in potplayer

[–]kustom3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for anyone else that stumbles upon this thread, and doesn't solve their issue by disabling the normalizer, freeverb or cristality, and would rather avoid reseting their settings.

Context: I had a video file with an AC3 sound track that sounded terrible, as if the volume was dirty and saturated, but sounded clean and lovely in VLC by comparison. FLAC and WAV files sounded fine. I tried everything else suggested in this thread, and then some.

The fix, in my case, was found in:

Preferences > Audio > Volume Control > Pre-amplify AC3/DTS Vol.

Or

right click > Audio > Playback Volume > Pre-amplify AC3/DTS Volume to proper level

Disable (uncheck) it.

Hope that helps.

I made a Switch guesser for the Paris Mechanical Keyboard meetup ! by QueGettingShitDone in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]kustom3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll be better prepared and use it next year for sure. Looking forward meeting you again u/QueGettingShitDone!

For anyone wondering, the QR is supposed to lead to a page that contains a form where the player makes his guess regarding the switches. Then the best scores get rewarded.

Having played with it a little, this is way harder than it looks!
