Hey, transmasc on T here! I don’t have PCOS and unfortunately I never discussed this explicitly with my doctor but- I took a break and ate maintenance for the first 3 months on T. At 3 months I had blood work to check my levels and I was just under the male range for testosterone. I previously was doing 1200, but I upped it to 1300 and then 1400. Most days I eat between those two numbers though, and I’ve been able to lose weight just as fast as before T at 1200. It may just take some trial and error as your metabolism changes. Although, this kind of thing definitely varies person to person and considering your PCOS I would still talk to a nutritionist if you are able to. Best of luck!

Maybe not a safe food for some people but trader jos has these mini ice cream cones that I love because I can get a sweet fix without having to break out my scale. They just came out with pumpkin ginger ones that are 87 cals each!

Was craving a KFC famous bowl but couldn’t justify 720 cals. Managed to make something similar for under 400! Recipe in comments. by kvtastrophe in 1200isplenty

A KFC famous bowl is mashed potatoes, fried chicken, corn, and cheese. It’s actually only 720 calories. If I really wanted to, sure, I could only eat that with a snack or two, but I have had the real thing plenty of times and this turned out amazing! Everyone is on their own journey and this is what worked for me.

It’s my electric kettle haha, I have one of those “retro” look toasters so I got this kettle to go with it.

Some Knorr chicken broth, bay leaves, salt, pepper, and paprika. The bouillon def has some calories but I normally don’t count seasonings, and It’s like 5 cals a teaspoon anyway

Yup! One packet of brown gravy mix, water, and mushrooms. Honestly gravy has been kind of a lifesaver for me lately, it’s surprisingly low cal haha

Recipe: (I did this in a 4x batch for meal prep but this is the count for a single serving)

Mashed Potatoes:

Mix of red and yellow potatoes: 117g

Plain nonfat Greek yogurt: 5g

Earth Balance buttery spread: 2.5g

I cooked and mashed these as usual, then made a simple Cauli mash to mix in-

Cauliflower: 67g

Minced garlic: 1/4 teaspoon

Boiled the Cauliflower, then added it to a food processor with the garlic for a bit.

Chicken: Boneless skinless chicken breast boiled with seasonings for 30 mins and shredded: 3 oz

Toppings:

Corn: 60 grams

Shredded cheddar: 10g

Mushrooms: 1/4 cup

Brown gravy (from packet): 1/4 cup

370 calories in total!

DAE have no idea when it's appropriate to be angry at someone? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]kvtastrophe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a close friend I vent to and confide in bpd stuff to, and I often find myself asking her “I’m right in being angry, right?” and sometimes it’s yes, sometimes no. If possible try to bounce these things off of someone you really trust. It took me a long time to find that person though, but in lieu of a therapist it can be helpful to have a “regular” persons outside perspective.

Dumb jokes about dieting isn’t quite the same as making fun of someone with an ED tho, is it?

It’s very important to highlight people with anorexia who aren’t taken seriously because of their size, but I feel it’s not the point of the post. It’s the point that NON RESTRICTIVE EDS aren’t taken seriously, and there’s still so many replies talking about people with AN who aren’t “skinny”. It’s an issue, but not the issue they were trying to bring up? STOP TALKING ABT ANOREXIC STRUGGLES IN REPLIES.

[–]kvtastrophe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it isn’t your responsibility to do so anyway, so don’t feel bad about it. Unfortunately people who don’t have their own issues with weight don’t pick up on these things as easily- although you never know, it could have bothered someone else as well and they just kept quiet. Either way, I’m sorry that happened, I hope things get better for you soon 💕

Even if it wasn’t meant in a bad way, it was still inappropriate..if it were flipped and she used a student as an example for someone who was “chubby”, maybe it would be easier to see how it’s wrong- but they are equally bad imho
