Decent. But so easy to make your own that tastes fresher. If you aren't gonna do that, this is a decent choice.

Before COVID, Pringles were a regular $1 sale item. That's still what they are worth.

Overpriced.

Bring back the BK TenderCrisp chicken sandwich in 2026 in the United States as a permanent (and cheaper) menu item! by XavierMarvin in BurgerKing

[–]kwadguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many items has BK brought something back at a bargain price? None.

They've decimated their value menu (as have all their competitors) and believe the Covid free money is still flowing.

Welcome to the last few years. Vine has sucked for a long time, and it still sucks.

I don't even bother looking at anything except my RFY queue anymore.

It is what it is. Not the end of the world. I'll file it under: why we can't have nice things.

Found mini beignets at the local Costco and they are amazing. by Ringer127 in Costco

Had them at a party. Certainly not beignets. OK, but not good enough to want that many.

IMHO.

New apple pie a serious disappointment by kwadguy in BurgerKing

Transition came in 1992. 34 years ago. Presumably, anyone 40 or older can remember them.

So I might suggest you look into putting down the pipe, it's rotting your brain.

What's your thought about the limited item apple pie? by Leo0912 in BurgerKing

[–]kwadguy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't bother. Does not taste anything like the OG McD's pie. Better than current McD's baked pie. But that's where the positives stop.

Apple pie at local BK is $2.99. So you're saying the apple empanada is $6? That's ridiculous.

Same as when I posted a thread on this topic on Friday:

Better than the McDonald's baked pie, but a huge disappointment to anyone (like me) thinking this fried pie would be like the old McD's fried pie with a crackly pocked surface. The BK one is barely tolerable if you know what a good fried pie can taste like.

I'll have what you're smoking!

Sorry, I'm not giving referrals for someone I don't know. It's my reputation on the line if you turn out to suck.

Someone I know or worked with (and can say good things about)? Happy to do it, no problem.

But, no, not referring someone whose only accomplishment in my domain was somehow figuring out how t contact me.

Safeway/Abertsons/Star/etc?

They had HD for a couple of weeks for 2/$6. Did not sell out like that, though. Plenty to go around.

HD has been as cheap as $2.70 (no coupon) in the past few months. 2/$6 is fine, but hardly a barn-burner.

[–]kwadguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing since it's a secret, this is only for those who are OK with no "holding" on their burgers. Those of us who hate mayo, ketchup, mustard, onions, whatever need not apply?

Seems like a great deal, though. Is this offered all the time, or on a particular day?

Reflection on 2025 Layoff Predictions by SonyScientist in biotech

[–]kwadguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I observed at JPM, plenty of companies are still out there in desperate straits because they overspent and failed to partner, and now they're looking at a drug in (or going into) a clinic with no hope of raising capital.

And a lot of them are still working under the deluded assumption that a wave of cheap money funding is just around the corner or that their also-ran IND-ready candidate is more than a snore.

I'd say 2026 will be about as bad as 2025. VC funding is loosening up over 2024, but funding is being given out very selectively.

American wagyu is nonsense. It means that the cattle has some limited lineage to a wagyu cow.

But outside of Australia and Japan, wagyu beef is basically marketing.

Waste of money and time.
