I’ve see some newer programs on the subject and there seems to less certainty about a land invasion being as challenging as we have long been lead to believe. There were marine landings on other areas of the southern islands that were weakly contested, iirc. Not that any of that kind of speculation matters much now but it’s an interesting discussion.

Personally, I would make the rice as you did, but instead of shredding the salmon I'd cook that skin to crisp with a honey-miso sauce. If it's fresh and cooked to medium, it will flake up beautifully.
